Description
Probably one of the more luxurious modes of travel is the Simplon-Orient-Express, and one of the more interesting world cities is Istanbul (Constantinople renamed to Istanbul in 1930). Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits originally ran this route; however, in 1977, the Orient Express stopped serving Istanbul. The Venice-Simplon Orient Express train is a private venture by Belmond, using original CIWL carriages from the 1920s and 1930s, now runs this route.
This is an old photo of one content lady traveling to Constantinople in 1927.
