Description

For Carol (romanceworks)... As more people leave RR, I find myself doing private dedis rather than oline. While Carol isn't here often, she still graces this place every so often, so I post this here happily... When you first look at Carol's gallery, you think she's an exceptional painter of animals, flowers, landscapes, etc. But when you look closely, she paints the whole cosmos. I'm not exaggerating. I've watched her art several years now, and I'm telling you: In those petals, wings and lion manes, she's got a whole galaxy going on---and several neighboring galaxies as well. Her strokes surge, her colors are gorgeous and so expressive, her backgrounds radiate and resonate, and her art explodes, jumps, dances, shouts, and shimmers like a gigantic cosmic jazz band. It's a street fair for the cosmos. Sometimes, after sitting with her work for a while, I feel like Fats Waller--the jazz pianist who, when one of the masters walked in, said: "Ladies and gentlemen: I play the piano. But tonight, God is in the house..." She also remains, btw, very successful with her business, which she's built single-handedly. She makes a living doing exactly what he loves; and she keeps plugging away, dealing with challenges I left years back because I couldn't stand it. She's been an inspiration to me on many levels; and her support for my work---and life---has been a great gift, for which I'll always be eternally grateful. So happy birthday Carol! Merry Christmas and ευτυχισμένο το νέο έτος! (That's "Happy New Year" in Greek: She's from Greek heritage, and I figured I better stick in some Greek in case she's got some ancestors snooping over my shoulder). Thank you for your exquisite work and friendship: They've meant the world to me Carol. Many more birthdays to you, with love, big hugs, and tons of inspiration now and always, Mark (please see image full---it's based on an old piece, but I postworked the hell out of it, hoping to get a little of Carol's spirit...) ------------------

Wonderful swirl of scintillating colors done in your unique style, Mark! And a lovely dedication to Carol!

It's kind of depressing that so many wonderful folks have left Rendo. I've come close a couple times - notably after the infamous 'Revolution' - but I'm still here. And I don't foresee ever leaving anytime soon. It's still the most vibrant and active art community on the web.

Hope you and yours have a joyous Holiday season, buddy!

I love her work and this is a fantastic dedication. almost a day and night version of the image. on the left, a bright colorful scene like being at a calm pond watching the dragonflies fly in the sunshine. on the right, the same pond but lit in moonlight where colors are more dramatic and the dragonflies have been replaced by moths and crickets. ok, now you made me want to sit outside and watch nature fly around me... :) good job, nice work, and a beautiful dedication.

happy holidays, dear friend, I hope you and your sister are feeling better.

Beautifully done dedication for your friend, Mark. And since her birthday is so close to December 25, her first name is Christmas! That's where the term, Christmas Carol, originated. The spheres above remind me of bowling balls. As you said, lots of people are leaving Renderosity, for various reasons. Virtually all of my photograph oriented commenters are long gone, leaving me with Bryce, Daz, Fractal and Poser artists to say anything about my basically photo work.

Mark, thank you so much for this wonderful dedication, and for these worlds you have created. There is so much color and energy and passion in those orbs. Color is a big part of my world, a part I truly love to explore with my art. I also like round shapes and big dots, and polka dots, and colors splashing around with wild abandon and attitude. I'm not on RR as often as I used to be, but Rosity and I have history. It is a part of my past with LJ, and a part of my life without LJ, that means a lot of me. Mostly it's the people, the artists I have met and the friends I have made through the years that keep me coming back. I'm really so glad the Universe brought us together so many years ago, Mark, as it has been a friendship that has filled my world with your enormous giving loving spirit. Nobody gets my art like you do. Nor has anyone ever expressed their thoughts and observations and feelings about my work as eloquently as you. Thanks for everything you do, Mark, and everything you are. Hope your New Year is filled with peace, health, and grand artistic adventures.
