This is for Jacomina (dochtersions)...
Those of you who know Jacomina know that she's very dear. She elicits dearness in people. Her art is magical, deep and very touching. She was chosen artist of the year for her fractals---which I tried, clumsily, to imitate here. But she also creates magical photography, and beautiful and equally magical paintings. She's a deep artist. And a very giving one.
She's been through a lot, in her health and otherwise. She's been very open about that...But those of us who know her know the wondrous sweetness in her---the kind of sweetness that shines from the center of one's heart. She has a glow, a radiance. You can almost see a dancer inside her, dancing forever. It touches everyone she touches.
In this image, I tried to capture a little of her fractals. But I also tried to capture a cantata by J.S. Bach: Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme. Jacomina adores Bach. (So do I.) And she's a woman of loving and dear faith...This is a feeble attempt to evoke those words. They mean: "Awake! The voice calls us..."
The 'voice' refers to the watchmen for the Messiah...but it can also mean Christ himself; or---for all who aren't religious---the voice of light, of joy and inspiration; a call to love...
I envisioned glancing out the window on Christmas morning, and seeing the cosmos light up in waves, heralding something glorious just beyond the horizon. I conceived it for Jacomina because she deserves it, but also because she gives those qualities to others all the time...she lights up the sky for us.
Happy Birthday, Jacomina! I hope you're well! I wish you a blessed and wonderful birthday, and an equally blessed Christmas and 2019. Thank you for all the love and beauty you give here, and may it come back to you a thousand-fold. Happy birthday, dear soul, with blessings, joy and love, Mark

You have a few friends with close birthdays Mark. And it's wonderful you think of them. I'm sorry I don't know her but veil seek her gallery and hope make friends. Seems like a few of us have gone through things in life. But you my friend sure brighten things up. Hope the best for your friend and you of course Mark.

Such beautiful, loving and thorough Birthday wishes for our dear friend. I see the the love in this beautiful image and I am sure she will feel it too. If just it could really heal her, we would all be ever so happy. But it might be able to lift her beautiful spirit. :)

I would like to learn Fractals, but there are so many versions, with most of them being in Windows. Very few in Macintosh, the only ones I can employ. That said, wonderful art and tribute to your ailing friend, who I don't know, so all I can add is Happy Birthday and many more!

It is magical, so many impressive colors and patterns, it shines on all sides, it carries secrets, exciting dark round spots, but also the opposite, the light that leads my eyes to the upper left corner. They are music waves that dance, dance to their special color. I suspect every tone/ sound, has its own color. And everything comes to life with power. but also dignity, a majestic grace, in which warm love lurks. I love the red, large circle, it is full of energy, to continue all those magic sounds to the left above, to where we will all be, will appear in a new light. Your words are too laudatory about me, dear Mark, and of course I am deeply touched, but also shy of them. It is also typical you, the writer, in which you also always hit 'the strings'. The strings of feeling, carefully, and both: simplicity and grand, but loving. I am grateful to you, dear friend, and wish you blessed days; not only with Christmas, but also for much more, in the still invisible time. "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme", this Voice is in every word you write, Mark. The Voice to which I desire intense. Thank you so much!

this is so pretty! it's festive and magical. a perfect gift. the swirls of blue move from ocean waves to clouds in the sky and the green from pasture to rolling hills. yellow, red and orange are flowers and reflection from sunlight. this is a wonderful image that is seamed together like a puzzle; the pieces fitting perfectly.
