Description
Helle (helanker) didn't want an upload because she can't be here much, these days, but I couldn't do 'nothing'---so here's another whacked out, over-the-top montage, designed to feel like a street fair. (I hope.) She loves this skyline, so here it is (Chicago, a few blocks from home).
It's me shouting, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HELLE!"---even though she's trying to rest after the holiday.
Helle was one of the first people I met here, she encouraged me to post when I hadn't shared art in an eon, she supported everything I did, and wound up being one of my truly treasured friends. She's a riot, she's incredibly supportive and kind, she kept me and those who love her dancing for years; and her art's a total joy.
Even when she's got no time, she turns out these great montages, beautiful paintings, collages w/ buttons and prints and whatever strikes her fancy scattered all over them---she just makes things like that, she's so creative; and she's got notebooks of 'm, little street fairs---and wonderful drawings and cartoons; and she can't understand why her fans make a such a big deal about them. She's also a helluva photographer---if you go back in her gallery, even 2007 and 2008, you'll see her terrific eye and exploration. She sent me my first camera (from Denmark), a 2 MP tiny turbo beast which got me started. (I didn't ask for it, mind you, she just sent it.) She's a delight, she writes great and funny letters, and I love her. I'm a terrible correspondent btw---I'm awful the last few years...but if it means getting a letter from Helle? Totally worth it, she's a gem.
So Happy Birthday Helle, and tons more! I wish you many years filled with creativity, love and dance. You're a delight, and I send lots of love and many thanks for your friendship: it's been a joy and gift to know you,
mark
I'll return to comments tonight--I'll get to all of you, I promise...

OH! My goodness, dear Mark!!! I am overwhelmed.. Both by your wonderful montage of the most gorgeous Chicago view. A city i have learned to love by your wonderful photographs. If I had a canvas with the first one. It would Hang on my wall. NO DOUBT. Lost my jaw and I am drooling here. And so are my eyes, by your beautiful and very touching words to me. Thank you so much dearest Mark. You are such a gem to me and I am so Lucky having you in my life. Thank you from all my heart.

how cool is this set of images? starting from the bottom up it tells the story of a city. the bottom: a budding idea in the dark mind of man and God. next up: fire, light, heat and all the things that make a city explode with life and love. next: the calmness and quiet beauty of man and what man can accomplish when he sits and ponders the world the Gods have given him. top scene: ta-da! a beautiful place made by man with thanks to nature and all higher powers.
bravo, Mark!

Yes, the Happiest of Birthdays to you, Helle, ensconced way up there in winter cold Denmark. I miss you and your fabulous stuff also, and sure wish you were on Rederosity more often, but know you have more pressing needs to confront, husband, family, home, etc. Mark said it all when describing his relationship with you. My birthday is on December 30, which means you were born a couple of days before me.

As intensely beautiful as you write about our dear friend, Helle, and every word is true. She is a wonderful person, and so versatile talented. And I love all your 'splashes' that show your Chicago. I go for the one on top, love that colour palette. The background from that one below is fantastic, you did something very special with the curves and the rays in it, Mark.
