BIO I'm an illustrator, and for the last 15 years I have been doing almost exclusively digital work--mostly covers for e-books and small presses; fantasy, SF and Paranormal Romance covers are my specialty. I use Poser, Photoshop and Painter, and a nifty little paint program called ArtRage. I have been lucky enough to have work shown on the BBC's The Sky at Night, done promotional artwork for the Hugos, and have digital art tutorials published in Michael Burn's Femme Digitale and Digital SciFi Art (Watson-Guptill 2004) as well as DVD covers, cd covers and e-book covers, most recently for Liquid Silver Books, Edge/Tesseract and Dragon Moon Press. I'm also a member of the International Association of Astronomical Artists. . When I have time, I do acrylic paintings for fun.
Commissions: I do 3d texturing and backgrounds now rather than book covers, and I do appreciate a good UV template to work on. Thanks for checking out my bio!

Reminds me of aliens and cowboys. Great prop and character. I like that lighting and cool outfit she has, Barb.

Thanks so much! LOL I had totally forgotten about Aliens and Cowboys, what fun. The more I use DS the better I like it, though I wish I was better at the lights. I'm still trying to get the "Built In" light tube to glow :p

OK - now this is cool! Wonderful work on Jenny's gal, and the environment looks great!
I just watched a video on YT last night on using the dome and HDRI images to light the scene - most interesting. Lots of fun new stuff to learn.
lwperkins
The dome and hdri works really well; I've turned off all the lights and used the Sunlight option and the default hdr scene and that looks really nice too! You have to set the "time" though on the render tab. My biggest headache is the camera autolamp. It's easy to forget that it exists but it can screw up your other lights just by being on--it gets priority over other lights. If you are using hdr light then the "normal" lights you throw in almost disappear--just the spotlights seem to still be ok, but you have to use a lot of them--there are four in the scene up there to illuminate the inside of the driller, and you can hardly tell. So there is a lot to learn.

Wonderful work!!!

I've got that tunnel thing too... somewhere in the bowels of my runtimes. This makes it look like the barrel of a shotgun, which is quite clever actually, a modern-day James Bond thingy.
