It's like a gathering of intimate objects, objects of memory or of artistic value to the owner...you've scattered them in a way that suggests one has taken them out of the attic to be with them for a while. You do images like this from time to time, and they always feel like you've gone into your infinite treasure chest and taken out a handful of gems, and shared them with us, arranging them on the screen so that each one has its own space and say. I love the combo of a big glass (with pink for v.day) and a pink rose, and those gold---what---candies? droplets? magical potions? And the purple heart. And two luscious looking candies in front. And a lot of white space, which, to me, feels like winter purity, this holiday being in February...And your fairy brings green to the scene (so do the rose petals), and she seems like a nature goddess: I almost expect fruits and flowers to be bulging out of her hair and outfit, like some bacchanalian spirit. I always love that you leave space in some of these 'gatherings': Here, it gives a quiet and serenity to the image. A very tasteful valentine's image. (My first valentine's day with a new girlfriend in college, I was so nervous I didn't know what to do. Some friends suggested a tea that was supposed to be 'aphrodisiac'. So, nervous as all getout, I drank 8 whole cups ((it was delicious!)). What I didn't know was that it was also diuretic. So, on Valentine's Day---one of our first dates---I wound up going to the bathroom a million times; and by the 20th---with "I promise this is the last time, I promise!"---she said: "Yeah, Mark? Let's do this another time..." ((She also said, "why don't you take a blanket and pillow and move in there...")) It wasn't a great start to a relationship, and it took me a wee bit of time to start liking Valentine's Day...)
