When you posted this, my wrist really hurt, so I couldn't comment that minute; otherwise I would have. Great scene, love the angled private walkway, and how you use the gold light all across the ground and wall...and how you have a deep setting-night sky---that blue is great behind all that gold and amber and yellow, etc. And the woman's body faces to our right, but she looks decidedly to the back, as if waiting for someone (except we know she's heard a noise). The image is fraught with tension and questions (what did she hear, why is she here, where does that curved road lead, etc. etc). Her candle is a perfect centerpiece, as it pulls together the mystery---a light she hopes will guide her to safety (if there's something bad lurking in the distance). Great choice of gown too---it's sheen and silvery whiteness is a great foil to all the autumnal golds and browns, etc. Beautiful piece. (And she's holding a key...so she's just stepping out? Or maybe it's a key to a lover's place? Lots of rich questions here. This would make a great prod for a story...) Terrific piece, Barb.
