Sainte Croix du Mont - Gironde - France
Au XIIème siècle, une lettre de l’archevêque Guillaume signale l’existence de la paroisse de Sainte Croix du Mont.
Au XIVème siècle, la présence du château de Tastes est mentionnée et son seigneur Girard de Tastes, après des démêlés avec le roi de France, finit par être amnistié par Philippe VI de Valois, à la demande du roi d’Angleterre, Edouard III. S’ensuit une période de prospérité. Au début du XVème siècle, la lignée des Tastes à Sainte Croix du Mont s’éteint. Depuis cette période de nombreux propriétaires du château s’y sont succédés (dont un comte de Benauge) et ont effectué des travaux d’aménagement et de restauration. En 1927, la commune achète le château et en 1970, la mairie s’y installe.
In the 12th century, a letter from Archbishop William mentioned the existence of the parish of Sainte Croix du Mont.
In the 14th century, the presence of the castle of Tastes is mentioned and its lord Girard de Tastes, after quarrels with the king of France, ends up being pardoned by Philippe VI de Valois, at the request of the king of England, Edward III. This is followed by a period of prosperity. At the beginning of the 15th century, the line of Tastes at Sainte Croix du Mont died out. Since that time, many owners of the castle have succeeded each other (including a Count of Benauge) and have carried out development and restoration work. In 1927, the town bought the castle and in 1970, the town hall moved in.

Pour beaucoup, le nom de Sainte Croix du Mont évoque surement plutôt une étiquette sur un grand cru qu'un château! ;) Mais à voir tes photos, on se rend compte que cet endroit a un passé historique! Superbes photos, merci de partager, Mo!
