Just one of 45 pics of these spectacular trees captured 1/29/2012 at the beautiful Rancho Los Alamitos Historic Ranch and Gardens in beautiful Long Beach, California.
Ficus or fiːkəs is a genus of about 850 species of woody trees, shrubs, vines, epiphytes and hemiepiphytes in the family Moraceae. Collectively known as fig trees or figs, they are native throughout the tropics with a few species extending into the semi-warm temperate zone.

I captured a number of ficus trees in Florida, and I found them very difficult subjects...because of their constant tangles, and the inevitable "dappling" from all their shadows. But you got a radiant mix here, between radiant off-white and all the gray shadows. And your pov is perfect for the "fanning out" of those famous roots, which crawl all over the ground. I love the house behind it, and how you caught it nestled perfectly into the folds of the tree's 'arms'. And the whole pic is bathed in bright light...a really beautiful capture, Harry. But then, your ficus shots have all been really fine...I should look at some of mine and learn from you. I found them a very challenging subject...I'll be back for more soon. I'm moving slowly these days due to my arm. But it's getting better...more soon...
