Description
The Chance Vought F4U "Corsair" has always been one of my favorites. It's pretty eccentric looking with its cranked wings, cylindrical "hog nose", and huge prop, but due to air passing through its intercooler and air coolers located in slots in the wing it whistled in flight. "Whistling Death" was one it's more descriptive nicknames. The other "Hog Nose" is the visual one from the cylinder snout.
In any case...one badass fighter!
F4U model is a classic from Bazze, available free online at Bazze's site. A bit of re-texturing work, with added external fuel tank and rocket racks by Neil Wilson and HVAR rockets from motokami ya F6F model.
Set up models in PoserPro; composed, some texture adjustments, lighting, and render in DazStudio; finished in PsCs3

Tricky to land on a carrier but they were very fast. The Royal Navy actually worked out the best way to make a carrier approach in the F4U, but even after that they were mostly used from land bases due to the extra difficulty caused by the nose blocking the pilot's view during slower carrier approaches. On land you could approach faster and so keep the nose lower.
You've made a fine image to pay tribute to those great old warhorses.

Impressive beast in real-life too!

Great work. I like the light. It makes the scene so realistic. Well made.
