Description

Ok. Why pictures of Chicago's Elevated trains? Well, Priska was in Chicago a while back, and posted some of the best shots of our "El" that I've seen. Second (and more important): Priska gets beauty out of the least 'showy' things. She photographs beautiful things, to be sure...but she also photographs common things, utilitarian things, lopsided things, 'ugly' things, etc; and she gets their essences...she makes them delicate, powerful, bold. If Helle, Tara, Andrea and others were still here regularly, they'd agree. We all love her work. I think Priska has a deep, intelligent and very delicate eye. She makes the simplest objects seem 'important': like they have something to say, and she gives them the 'microphone'. Her work has wonderful balance and inner beauty. If you see her gallery, go back several pages: Let her work sink in...it's very thoughtful work, whether of people, cities, mountains, flowers, etc. And her black and white is marvelous. This is a big deal: She understands the language of black and white, she doesn't just de-saturate: She speaks eloquently through black and white. Those of you who come from film understand: Black and white's not just the absence of color: It's its own unique language. So I'm very grateful she's still here, even while so many of us have pulled away. Her work, for me, is like drinking fine wine...it puts me in a delicate and masterful place. Priska, I wish you a great birthday, and many, many more; and thank you for your kindness in my gallery: You read me in a 2d language, and you're always so kind to what I do. I wish you a great year ahead, and send much inspiration and blessing to you and all your loved ones, Mark (Her gallery: aksirp) (Her website: her website) ------------------

This shows so much beauty as nature reclaims the world of man. Great lighting really makes the scene pop, and you framed the shot perfectly. Well done.

I wish I knew what kind of filter/philter you used for this sterling series of El train pics, they really give a wonderful quasi soft effect, Mark. And, Happy Birthday to your Priska; haven't seen her work as yet, maybe later. Plus, where have all the Renderosity photo people gone? There used to be oodles of them displaying their cool work, but they are now few and far between.....flickr, Facebook, Deviant Art?

And you have your own wonderful eye for beauty in commonplace things, Mark - and you proved it with this triptych of beautiful images. I'm sure Tara and Andrea would approve. I certainly do! This makes me want to set up a tent right between those supports and grill some burgers! LOL

This is a stunning shot. The dark shadows and the vivid green make this a lush and slightly mysterious image. You have a good eye and your choice of photos are always amazing. You take me places I will never go and you make each one of them into a beautiful dreamland. I love seeing Chicago through your eyes. Bravo on this wonderful set of dedications.
