Description
Captured back on 3/13/2010, at the beautiful Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
The Alpine ibex (Capra ibex), also known as the steinbock, bouquetin, or simply ibex, is a species of wild goat that lives in the mountains of the European Alps. It is a sexually dimorphic species with larger males who carry larger, curved horns. The coat color is typically brownish grey. Alpine ibex tend to live in steep, rough terrain near the snow line.

Given where ibex's are used to living (from your description), I wonder how they handle LA...they probably wonder where all that heat comes from...Given the cramped environs of most zoo cubicles, you caught this noble beast in a fine composition: His horns envelop the boulders behind him, his back flows with the lower rock, he looks down with the angle of the sheer concrete behind him, and so on. A quiet capture, but monumental. And those rocks in front of him make him look powerful, like he's got something in common with them. Finely composed shot of this noble beast. I like the green tones too...
