Selection by Trial They could sense when the moment was right to initiate the next phase for the new arrivals. There were many and some were already gifted in the ways of the lore of old. These they would assess through a series of trials. The first would be through learning to serve, for humility was seen as the foundation, the bedrock for all that was to follow. Pride had been the cause of the great fall many eons ago. Now it was seen as a curse, a liability that had to be guarded against at all costs. They were taught that humility was the only quality that could counter the madness that grew from pride. They had to prove that they were centered in the heart and not the head. The head they were told was the seat of vanity, as fickle as the wind and never to be trusted. These were the ways of the false kings who controlled the masses by force of arms. They were the lords of deception and their only desire was a lust for power that was insatiable. These they would stand against and they knew they would prevail for the reign of darkness was finally coming to a close. A new era was on the horizon but there was much work to do. All was unfolding as it should and they worked diligently towards this end.
