Description

From our recent trip... The title comes from the number on the leading engine... I got this shot at a rest stop in Wyoming on our way back home. There was a short trail leading down to this stream which was quite photogenic by itself. I took a few shots of it, and of course I had to get a few photos of a rather rare sight these days - an active signal line of telephone poles with actual glass insulators! I started to walk back to the van when I heard the sound of a train coming, so I hurried back down, and got this shot. I'm in the process of (once again) getting caught up on comments, so I should get to all of you today. I'm working on the final page for Chapter 6, then there will be a short "intermission" as I get the first few pages of Chapter 7 ready - along with a couple other related things. It's gonna be a busy winter! As always, thanks so much for stopping by, and for all your wonderful comments and support! And thanks again for all your votes! I am deeply honored! That looks like an area of exceptional natural beauty, as well as having some nicely placed man made sights. Well captured!

great capture Rod. seems like this familiar, but very common for rail lines to follow rivers

I would like to be in Wyoming also, but almost the whole state was covered with snow. I would love seeing the mountains covered in snow

I didn't return to commenting until now, and it was great to see this when I got here: The shot is sterling without the train, but the train is the extra whipped cream on the pastry, it's beautiful there; trains always naturally grace monumental landscapes. Great light in the trees and on the river---whatever you did to this, from camera to postwork, you brought out a beautiful glow and radiance in this scene. And your crop sets us right inside the 'cradle' of this place: It cradles us, surrounds us. And the water is beautiful---a pane of glass, with blue streaks (seaweed, lily pads?). Gorgeous, and should be seen full size. It's great to see your photography, Rod, anytime you post it.

(do you know what I'd do to raise my blinds and see THIS?)
