Description

The Ballad of Stonemaaker and Farraday This here's the Ballad of Stonemaaker And Farraday, the tale of two lawmen who became downright heroes to the people of the Carthagian Badlands. Now, I ain't no scribe and I never learnt my letters 'best I could, so y'all are gonna hafta pardon my attempt at makin' respectable rhymin'. Bein' just a man of the people myself, I reckon this little ditty won't do them justice. But, at least it's somethin'. Awright, enough of my jawin'. Here goes... (Clears throat and strums guitar) The Ballad of Stonemaaker And Farraday Part 1 Legends ain't born, they're made Jus' like some finely-crafted pistol Or a family's frontier homestead It takes the Maker's reckonin' And a heap 'a work an' struggle To make it right. The folks of the Carthagian Badlands Know'd the struggle well enough They'd been at it fer years 'gainst the Sovereign Them wicked-evil land-grabbin' varmints Eye'n the Badlands from their shiny towers An' coveting' all they saw. The Sovereign done took what they wanted An' the people were in a world a' hurt Long were them bad years An' the suffering' was fierce Freedom was a lonesome tumbleweed Ragged an' a blown' in the wind. Then, along came the SpiritWalker All gussied-up in black'n feathers Wearin' a hood and beaked mask Speakin' in riddles an' rhymes Plantin' the seeds of hope an' courage Amongst the people. The tribes came together Vowin' to break the Sovereign yoke Them wily elders conspired An' made a lasting' peace Between their peoples So that a heap 'a voices turn'd to one. The people declared themselves free An' them Sovereign took a' notice Not likin' what they were a'hearin' Cries of sorrow turnin' to shouts of hope An' the sound of breakin' rocks Drown'd by th' clankin' of chains broke asunder. An' so began The Uprisin' The people fought long n'hard 'Gainst them mighty Sovereign Conflict n'strife like never 'afore Afflicted both sides somethin' fierce With a heap a'years a'passin'. The Battle of Black Metal Ridge Done cinched-up The Uprisin' An' the people won the day But with so many souls a'lost Only the Maker could reckon The true winners of th' war. An uneasy peace settl'd on the land Them Sovereign stay'd in their city Never venturin' into the Badlands Exceptin' a few towns Along the airships' sky river routes Jus' fer capital an' amalgamation. In this here time an' place Two men done come up To see their folks through The bit'n hard edge of freedom found Constable Eustes Stonemaaker An' Captain Perceval Farraday. #steampunk #theairshipandalusia
