Description

The Ballad of Stonemaaker And Farraday -- Part 2 This here's the second part of the Ballad of Stonemaaker And Farraday, the tale of two lawmen who became downright heroes to the people of the Carthagian Badlands. I 'spect if'n y'all made it through the first part, then I reckon I need ta give y'all the second part. So, don't be a'feared. Here it is… (Strums guitar and clears throat) Constable Eustes Stonemaaker Was a lawman from Sky River Station As ornery as they come Tougher'n dried leather With one eye afflicted An' scarred-up from the war. Captain Perceval Farraday Was a'workin' fer the Peoples Militia Know'd nothing' but killin' an' death A'bendin' with them winds of change So that his days a'killin' Sovereign Were now a turn'd page in some dusty ol' tome. Their friendship went way back Know'd each other when they were a'youngins' Grow'd up on the frontier A'fearin' them Sovereign Wardens Stonemaaker always causin' a terrible ruckus An' Farraday always gettin' him outta trouble. Stonemaaker came from a bonafide frontier family With six strappin' brothers'n four perty sisters He had a heap a' kin Farraday had no family to speak of His folks was taken by th' Sovereign An' he was raised by his aunt. Them two was diff'rnt from each As betwixt blue sky an' gray rain Stonemaaker bein' loud an' fiesty As some wild critter caught in a trap Farraday bein' all quiet an' the ruminatin' kind Like'n a Meridian 'spectin a scroll a' Mysteries. But their friendship was true And ran deep like'n a ragin' river Where Stonemaaker led Farraday was close behind Stonemaaker was the fist an' hammer Farraday was the voice an' compass. So when the war bells 'gan a'ringin' A'musterin' the Badlands folk To take up arms 'gainst the Sovereign Stonemaaker was first'n the call-up line An' Farraday was th' second Fer they hated them Sovereign with a passion. Their range rifles a'slung An' field packs a'weighin' Stonemaaker an' Farraday took up th' fight Marchin' with their fresh-faced platoon Towards th' war's blood-bright edge Aimin' to do them Sovereign in. #steampunk #theairshipandalusia
