Description
The Lightwave Pistol
"The weapon suspended in the stasis field before you, Polonius, is both elegant and powerful. It is a Reyburn Mark VII Lightwave Pistol.
On the cusp of the Age of Expansion, a scholar named Terence Abernathy Reyburn made a discovery that would fundamentally change the way we view our universe. His research into the very nature of light produced an heretofore inconceivable revelation: the way in which light interacts with matter can be changed.
Light’s wave-particle duality intrigued Reyburn and piqued his scientific curiosity. Years of investigation and experimentation led him to the conclusion that light, in both its wave and particle forms, could be controlled at the quantum level to function as a particle accelerator and decelerator.
The second part of Reyburn’s discovery was that the most effective mechanism for controlling light was amplified human thought.
Using his research, Reyburn built the first thought-directed quantum light wielding weapon, the Reyburn Lightwave Pistol. Primarily a defensive weapon, the lightwave pistol became the sidearm of choice for explorers and soldiers alike. Almost a thousand years after Reyburn’s passing, the lightwave pistol remains a weapon of unequalled effectiveness and capacity with access to a nearly infinite supply of energy.
In the hands of an expert user, the Reyburn Mark VII Lightwave Pistol is powerful enough to stop an advancing army yet discrete enough to preserve a melting snowflake. It is far more than a simple point-and-shoot weapon. To use it properly, you must train your mind to form, direct, and disperse the pistol’s energy. Only then will you realize the lightwave pistol’s full potential; a potential you will need to tap in the near future."
