Description

First, sorry I'm still slow commenting. The pain still blows-in out of no place, and stays for days...But I've gotten to a lot of you, and will get to everyone in the next week, promise. (Thank you for your patience.) And I've made---and will make---more than one visit to you all. --------- (Please zoom fully, if convenient...the image makes more sense that way) I grew up in the wild, overgrown stretches way north of Chicago's sprawling metro-area; and it was wild, scraggly, and the houses were nestled into dense and dark forest...and the nights roared with the whooshes and moans of trees rustling in what was then the impenetrable Midwest night---before Chicago's sprawling lights took that away. When year's end came, it was so frigid out---real Midwest stuff---your face tightened like there were screws in it, and became a sheet of ice in seconds. New Year's Eve---where you were supposed to have a good time---was so gaggingly cold, you couldn't catch your breath. The word "January" intoned something so unearthly, it felt like a desolate, distant planet settled on the land...and, when you walked inside, the blast of hot air pouring into your lungs literally knocked you over. Years later, I read of the "pregnant" quality of the year's end: A time filled with hidden seeds and cauldrons lurking in the back-alleys of the night...and I imagined blasting fires under the earth, mixing an elixir that would eventually become 'spring'...that's what I tried to capture in this image. Let me wish all of you a beautiful New Year...but instead of saying "may 2020 be filled with joy and peace!"---which I wish!---let me say instead, may it be filled with flight and the wildest imagination: a flying, soaring, dancing 2020, with vistas you've never imagined, and revelations that knock you off your feet with wonder. Why not...and without the madness and insanity of 2019: That we can do without! Thanks for all your love and endless inspiration: It's all grand, and I'm very grateful! Happy New Year everyone, I hope it's grand for all!

I've have you in thoughts and prayers, and hope 2020 brings more joy and safe walking w/o any bad things. Very cold here today. My lil Tig er is holding on but shes so cold and looks at me like I'm heartless on not letting her in his house. God bless. Love this image mega lots. Always a fave and like. 5++

This certainly captures the light and beauty (and warmth) that will accompany spring in a few months. I'm ready... It's hard to believe 2019 went by in such a flash, but I guess that's part of being in the September - October - November of our lives.

I remember when the Kansas City area used to be a whole lot more pastoral than it is now.. Not a night goes by without a shooting somewhere in the ghettoplex.. It's all urban and urbane... Until you get out 25 0r 30 miles where my late uncle used to live. Then it's like "Broadband? WiFi? Wazzat??" 😄

Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful New Year's Mark, and that those annoying pains all take the last train to Clarksville. Be well, bro!

Mark, you once again have managed to bring a smile to my face. I absolutely loved this colorful image, as well as the story behind it. I would be very interested to know how much time you've spent living in and around your lovely Chicago area.

I admire a beautiful whole here, it gives the feeling that this new year, 2020, will consist of dance, joy, light, power, ultimate surprises in dog numbers, from everywhere. Your image throws it, bump slap 2020 in, Mark. And it's teeming with all sorts of innovations, surprise, surprise. Of which I hope it will be blessings that will be around you, will guide you through this whole new year, it has been granted to you so much, my friend. Well I write this before I read your words here, my friend, and now that I read your exceptional description of cold Chicago, it blows me over. But as only you can put it, and despite the terrible 'kind of situation', I enjoy it. Thank you for all you love spreading words.

Thank you with all my heart for your loving words that you wrote, in your exceptionally beautiful way, that you left at my gallery. You gave me a lot, I sincerely thank you for that. You look deeper and you are rich in spirit. So thanks again for everything you share here on this community from your deepest being. They are rich gifts given to you. And if 'things' are only for you, keep it for yourself, so that your personal blessings can remain accessible and consciously felt for you, growing forever in it. Happy New-year, dear friend. And take care.

This is a wonderful explosion into the new year. The colors and motion and depth are all layered into a beautiful image. See? You can do fractals! Your new year wish is a beautiful one. I, too, wish this world was filled with more imagination and wonder and less stagnant belief and greedy power. May your new year be filled with lots of that wonder and also much color and beauty.

Thank you for being a friend. Happy New Year, Mark!

You grew up in a Chicago that was a carbon copy of Kansas, Nebraska or North Dakota? Hardscrabble to say the least. Hard to believe it was ever that primitive and rudimentary in your time. I thought you were born in a Chicago that had long recovered and prospered to its present state with its els and skyscrapers right after the huge fire of 1871 caused by Missus O'Leary's careless cow. But I digress. Sorry to read of your persistent pain and hope it instantly subsides. Great New Year image of your 2020 you created for us, with all of its attendant colors, shapes and high contrast. It sort of reminds me of a welder working diligently on a big hunk of hot metal, punctuated by flurries of fumes and smoke. I just hope for a year unlike this 2019 period we've experienced. Keep up the good work, my friend.

thank you for good wishes and I like your creation - it seems "pregnant" - full of phantasy and options, so many things we don't see on first sight - there are capabilities for the whole year 2020!
