Description
In the 1960s the Russians had a secret program to land a cosmonaut on the moon. Problems with project and the subsequent success of the American Apollo program resulted in abandonment of the Russian Program. This series of renderings examines what might have been.
The Soyuz 7K-LOK orbital vehicle approaches the now orbiting LK ascent stage. Once achieving lunar orbit, except for maintaining its orientation, the LK is passive; the remaining activity is performed by the LOK. The LOK is manned by the other half of the two-cosmonaut lunar mission crew, but the rendezvous and docking is automatic.
The lander is my LK figure and the LOK is my Soyuz 7K freebie. The reaction control jet flames are from Jepe's FlameZ. The moon and earth are NASA photos. The star background is from DAZ's Easy Environments: Earth.
The scene was composed and rendered in Poser 11 and composited in Corel Photo Paint.
