Description

Hey guys! I've finished this oil painting that I'd been sharing with you, on YouTube videos.... If you remember, I named it "The Alcove". I painted it in Oil on a Canvas Panel. I'd not painted a tropical scene in Oil paint, so I wanted to give it a try and also challenge myself to try something new. As you can see, this is a tropical island with an alcove shaped beach with a large wave crashing against it. Also, it is much different from the reference, as I'd said on the video... I wanted the composition to make it look like a rocky shoreline, not a smooth Beach like the reference. But, I did leave a path to the beach with moss covered rocks and grasses, so the viewer could see wet sandy path to the beach below. Remember, keep your compositions inviting to the viewer, so they can image themselves walking into the scene. Anyway, I hope you like it and it was a fun project to paint. Also, try to have a great week ahead, take care!! Your painter bud, Artist Dan Seitzinger - www.danseitzinger.com

The rolling wave exactly matches the high point in the hill on the shore, creating a very interesting effect. It is almost like they are the same object.
