Description
I learnt a lesson in Monterrey,Mexico about using the word Mujer for woman . it can be very impolite and rude. I was in a market place and the vendors were always trying to sell their wares. one "mujer" was being pushy about trying to sell something to me. she asked me what I was looking for and I said a "mujer". she said I can not find a "mujer" there. actually I was looking for a lady friend and her mother. we laughed later after I told my friend

Nice photo of the area.

Very humorous! Perhaps you are lucky the Mexican lady didn't haul off and smack you one. LOL! Very nice photo here.

Richard, this is another epic pic you took. Something similar happened to me long ago in Mexico City.

yep you can get into "devils kitchen"using the wrong word in the wrong place.

It's not easy to communicate and make yourself understood when you use the wrong words. For me it's a big problem to communicate in English but thanks to my contacts at Renderosity I'm learning English little by little, but fortunately there are translators.

We are reliving the Tower of Babel fate; even when talking in the same language. The same word has a different meaning for the youth, for the old, for the republican, for the democrat, for the communist or for the religious. It is now true for every word of the dictionary. Is-n-it? Except for the tower, we are trying to create the internet-connected New World Order.

Monterrey is looking a lot like the strip in Las Vegas these days!

this is Las Vegas. just thought about the use of the wrong word because of "terrific" meaning bad in Hindi

Great view!

This looks very unreal to me, living in such a cuddly little Netherlands. And they have gondolas there, just like in Venice. A great shot again, Richard.

A good view. I'm glad you were safe with the misunderstanding.

A lovely shot here, Richard!
It can be confusing with all the various customs of different cultures. Glad it all came out OK!

Spectacular, but it doesn't remind me of Singapore! It's a different kind of heat in the far east! lol

I know pitifully little Spanish, so your lesson was a lesson for me totally. And "terrific" is from the same root as "terror" (terr-, in Latin), so, originally, "terrific" meant "terror-ific" something filled with terror. Amazing how the word changed, isn't it? I imagine Hindi borrowed the word from English (because the English were in India), and kept the original meaning. Whereas to us, now, it just means "great"...
Again, in zoom we see a grand view in this amazing shot. You have so much action here, so many angles converging, the columns are so strange (because they evoke another age and yet they sit on very modern walkways---and they're not part of any buildings! And you got a gondola, and that mass of bushes in front, and the angled Mirage, etc. Great pov, with your usual impeccable clarity. Another shot that is hard to walk away from. Boy zoom really reveals how much you capture. I love this shot.
