another of your intense oil pastel works, where you use the 'smear' of the medium to express intense and peering energies. The woman has a penetrating gaze (something a number of your portraits have), and I love that deep rust red for her hair, and how it contrasts with her marbly skin and the brighter purples of her top. And you put her profile against the back of someone else's head---if you know Bergman's Persona (the film), you'll know how many times he uses such profile/frontal/back shots throughout...In his hands, it can get pretentious; but here it's just plain intense. Hidden worlds here. A powerful portrait, Steve. And the scarf (if that's a scarf) gives her hidden flight...
