Description
My previous series illustrated landing on the moon and return to orbit of the Russian 1960s secret manned lunar program. This new series depicts the arrival of the spacecraft at the moon.
Two cosmonauts rode in the Soyuz 7K-LOK spacecraft during the several-day trip to the moon. Now, in preparation for the landing, one of them begins the long spacewalk to the LK lunar lander, not visible within the adapter that connects the LOK and the Blok D booster stage. He travels hand over hand along the handrails attached to the LOK and the adapter, using a safety cable so that he won't drift away if he looses his grip.
The Soyuz 7K-LOK and the Blok D/Adapter are (or shortly will be) from Renderosity Free Stuff. The cosmonaut is M4, wearing a modified version of the DAZ M3 Spacesuit and the safety cable is made from Industrial Pneumatic Tools from DAZ and a clasp from a cable by Max Grueter. The moon is from a NASA photo.
The scene was composed and rendered in Poser 11 and composited in Corel Photo Paint.
