Description

Hi. Most of you know these drawings; but I've tried to repost them every year around now, because it's the anniversary of my very first posts on RR. These were posted on the Forum (I was too chicken to create a gallery: I'd left visual art, being burnt-out from the professional market; so I felt wayyyyyy queazy about going 'public' again). But the souls over in 2D---incl Helle (helanker), Ana (anaber), Martin, Suzanne, Koosie and others (bless their souls)---convinced me to go public again. So I made my very first posts on that forum, and that led to a gallery... The top drawing is my avatar. I drew these in the mid '80s, 'cause I wanted to get the 'language' of the brush---its softness, its strange presence, it's amazing strength...so I drew 40 or 50 of these. It was an amazing learning experience, as I'd never worked with pencils before. They involved rubbing and more rubbing, to create softness and (if possible) glow. I aimed for that, at least. If you know them, you don't have to comment--I just wanted to share them 'cause this is my 12th anniversary. (I had a different sitename when I started. My present sitename means "the sound of silence". It refers to the center of the heart. The "c" stands for chakra. It's a Hindu thing. I'll explain it another time if anyone wants to know...) Anyway, thanks for viewing these oldsters---and, more importantly, thanks for everything, people, you've all been grand! And I hope we'll all be creating for years to come. Have a fine wed night, and many bows of gratitude to you all,
mark
(zoom is the original size---though i hope the site doesn't exaggerate it, as it sometimes does...) ------------------

A Happy 12th Anniversary, Mark...so glad we've recently connected :) Your brush drawings are lovely--not really works in realism, perhaps more impressionist...I look forward to many more years viewing and enjoying your delightful artistic endeavors...

Mark, first of all let me congratulate you for your 12th Anniversary. I do remember you posting these in the past, and it is a wonderful tradition for you to do so once more. They are both stunning, and knowing your thoughts behind each of them made it all the more special.

_Hi dear Mark, I think one could almost indicate, that you are an institution here at RR... with your fine art and storytelling [to put it in a nutshell]. There is so much more to your art and I could describe it in detail, but my mind has been all over the place, in the last 2 years, since the passing of my beautiful son Jeff. It was actually Jeff, who introduced me to Rendo [that's what he used to call it] and that is how I met you and many, many other artists here … but where are they now ? It's such a crying shame, because I have good and promising intentions of making a "come back" and in doing so, I like to add that I missed all and everyone of you, you were all like family to me...and more so now, than ever before. Believe it or not ? ;-) To make a long story short and not to bore anyone, who is reading this. I also believe, that I have been around here, as long as Mark - except for the last couple of years; you will understand - no explanation needed.. But not wanting to steal the limelight from Mark here, I can honestly say: he is one of the kindest souls at RR, I have ever met, especially with his writing style, leaving elaborate comments and always finds a hook, whatever it is he praises, on other members art... etcetera, what a 'Fairdinkum' character [Ozzie-slang, for down to Earth ?] a real gem, who deserves all the accolades, he is not getting anymore - but it's not surprising, with so many former members are absconding… I used to look and single out your comments for some of my work, to learn more from your commenting, the you can ever hope to learn from a manual... LOL What a pity, when I am just trying to get back into the swing... so, let's all of us just say to him, please Mark don't go! You really are the backbone of the art society at RR...

Congratulations Mark, love the simplicity of the brushes... could you please make them the next year in blue, perhaps ? or purple ? LOL - Do I see a smile on your face now ? Then my job is done ! sending lots of love and good wishes for your health! _

Congratulations and Happy Anniversary! I'm always delighted to see anything you create. These brushes are wonderful; the shine on the metal, the soft hairs of the brush and the warmth of the handles are all beautifully done. I'm honored to call you a friend and I look forward to many more of your creative years. Thanks for explaining your name, it's deep and moving. I'd love to know the whole story/meaning.

Happy Anniversary. You drew them in the mid-80's; that seems like several lifetimes ago. Amazing. The brushes have a soft quality to them. I like it.

I've always loved your wonderfully soft and gentle brush artwork, Mark, and I think it is perfect for your avatar - it's who you are... An artist, a writer, a storyteller - and a gentle and caring person. And a good friend. I've been here for a bit less time (you have a couple years on me! LOL), but I can't imagine RR without you. It would be like having a car, but no gasoline..

Keep on keepin' on, buddy! Looking forward to the next 12...

These are a fine example of the detail you put into your postings, whether it be the photos that you stylize or the stories that you write. Congratulations on achieving 12 years here. Let's go for another twelve years, eh?

Congratulations on enduring the slings and arrows of Renderosity, what with the periodic and often idiotic changing of the structure of the galleries by the people in charge, et al , Mark. I think I've been around around Rendo since 2005 or so. That year was before my present photography period when I was posting Bryce and Poser stuff. I ran out of ideas at that point and have posted mostly photos since then. Anyway, you did a yeoman's job on your brush avatars and such. You are probably the most versatile creative individual that I've encountered on Rendo, what with your photos, creating instant novels, including your travel through ancient history meeting and tolerating various friends and prominent individuals of note, plus posting your old primitive drawings - most of them loosely of dogs - your mastery of many musical instruments, your selfie photos in the mirror, your dedication of birthday and get well art and text for many of us, etc. We appreciate it, my friend. Congratulations again, and keep up the good work, and best of luck on your physical therapy. I'm up to my fifth visit as of today.
