The "elf" girl certainly had an opportunity. But Faith understood it was likely her best chance to save her career. Tolk shipping was wanting to get into the light liner trade. These are smaller luxury liners that don't actually go anywhere but cruise to and around interesting spots and linger. These ships are set up for entertainment of all types at a fairly low cost to passengers and deliver high yield profit to the owners, if they are swanky or able to accommodate many tastes well enough. Elkhorne was on a mission to find ships that fit that bill, buy them and return them to Regina for refitting. The ship she found was an older ship that had passed through a few owners attempting to do what tolk shipping was buying them for, but failed. In her prime she had been a reliable jump one liner that worked what is called "The Corridor" that joined rimward and the spinward marches and provided cargo and passengers contact with the Imperium. A task she did was many decades. But as jump tech and progress marched on the ship couldn't compete. She would be sold to a sub-sector line, then later to a regional and finally to a series of private owners that turned her into a casino, or a party boat full of Leisure agents. The "Lusty" as she was currently registered had been bought by Elkhorn. But Elkhorne had a problem, her pilot had died in an argument with an aslan and now had no way to travel the ship to Regina. Worse still she would need a A-1 Pilot as hiring a full grew would be too expensive. 1-A Pilots are not only hard to find but if one becomes available just about every ship or line fall over themselves attempting to snap them up. Elkhorne was not about to let this pilot get away. So her offer was awesome, even including the cadet who had a C license at least. Faith accepted of course, for if nothing else it would get her far away from the mess she had been too close to. Back in her flight suit Faith was inspecting the parts of the ship she'd need to get the old ship to her new life. With her she took the Cadet for he might not have known much about engines, but he could likley read a manual. "Ma'am" Roth said as he closed a manual. "Are you sure we should be on this job?" he added. Faith looked at the kid a moment. She though of saying something snarky but she realized that at least for the moment she was now his captain and instructor. "Yeah...I have the quals to travel the ship." Faith began. "We aren't taking passengers or cargo, it'll be just us and boss lady. So as long as the jump packs are right it'll be a few short jumps to a good pay day and you'll be able to rate up with tolk." She said in a flat tone. "There is some risk but we won't be out of the lanes and close to rescue, so just do what i tell you and you'll be fine." Faith said feeling as though she was sounding like a recruiting advert. Roth smiled a little. "But ma'am, the three of us is a violation of crew management." Again Faith though of something snarky to reply to that true statement. "Cadet, you sound a little too hopeful about being the only male on board. lets just hope that me and the boss lady can control ourselves, assuming us "Girls" are into "Boys". Now, section 4, steps 20 through 30, If you please Cadet." Faith said as she tapped the manual in front of cadet Roth. With a stunned look he fumbled the manual open searching for the right spot.
