Description

Thought before I archived the previous version, I would make some modifications/additions to the scene...Don't have a clue how that rat managed to get into the chalice, but rats are highly intelligent and resourceful creatures...that's the license of fantasy :) No glass table this time and rendering was way faster. Thanks for the view and for any comments you'd like to share...greatly appreciate your support.

Clever rats! The one in the chalice just wanted to test out your refraction settings :-) Lovely lighting, as with the first version.

OK - now I'm definitely not going to take a sip of whatever's in that lovely chalice! 😁 That looks like one happy rat, though!

Wonderful and fun additions to this great artwork, Barb!

He was walking on the lip of the chalice and got his tail too close to the candle flame. He thought quickly and jumped into the liquid to put out the fire on the end of his tail. Now he is waiting for his friend to come and help him out of the chalice. Marvelous scene!

You could have a story just about the mischief these two get into, lol. Can't wait untill the wizard gets home... 😁

Ratty has a friend, how nice. Of course this probably means that there will be LOTS more rats hanging around waiting to be put into cool images. :) Good work! I really like this!

Makes me wonder if they're mischievous pets or unwanted intruders.

You can tell rats are smart because they get into some dumb predicaments. I am sure it started with the rat equivalent of "I dare you..." Lovely scene and lighting.

OK, I'm looking at both versions of this, side by side (I have 2 browsers open), and I really like both equally. The first one is more 'classic', more orderly...for one, you only have one implement on the table (I don't know what that thing is---sorry!...the long metal rod with a moon shape on the end? something to cut really big wheels of cheese? might it be a measure or something to measure the stars...) Anyway, it's in a line with the floor, moulding, etc. And the rat balances out the candle (visually), with an empty chalice between...It's like a still life, and I love the arrangement and the dark, intense light. The second is more busy, more energetic, you have a rat in the chalice (I like Teri's explanation, and I love Barb's comment that more rats will be waiting in the wings to get into your images...beware, you'll get a knock at the door and 2000 rats will give you their resumes w/ head shots, and tell you what agencies they're from, and trust me you'll wanna hire some help really fast...wanna be rat-stars are a pain), and the second rat is sneaking onto the table, and you have a second beautiful implement, and a stand with some kind of bowl...I like the energetic visual counterpoint. Also, the light seems more intense, the candle is now orange, and your wall has stuff I want to read. Really nice intense interior light in both, and your arrangement is like a still life in both instances. (Well, and you turned the book around in no. 2, and changed the candle holder.) (pretty sneaky, lol !) Beautiful work in both pieces. A real aged interior feeling...

😂 This made me smile. Rats are survivors because of their intelligence (and their exponential fertility rate). Everything in this looks medieval and is enhanced by the dark lighting.
