Description

Work in Progess: More learning Blender 2.82 for making Poser content, improved workflow (and add-ins), optimizing mesh. The two pieces are pretty simple and relatively low res. Only about 2500 faces each. And a bit of that is the edging. I came up with a way to do rounded edges using a very small number of faces that also (using material zone "trick") makes it easy to use morph brush to fit the edge perfectly, quickly, and easily, while maintaining the rounded edge. The two pieces prefer subd at 1 which rounds the edges nicely. I also crank up the smoothing to 170ยบ. The edge cross section is, essentially, a very squished hexagon with one side missing. | <--- fabric plane | \ | | <- outer plane \ / The mat zone is the inner plane, the fabric plane, and the outer plane. The angled bits are not a concern. The trick I use is to set the fit brush at 0 and crush the entire thing down flat against the body. Then set at about .0005 (metric is what I use) and set the fabric. Then set at .001 and set the outer. This resets the shape of the edge back to the squished hex, only with the inner plane up against the body. It works pretty well. :) Each piece took less that a day to model completely from scratch, and only that long because I was testing different approaches and mesh techniques. So I had to go back and forth to Poser. And tested about 6 different designs. And discovered some quicker ways to make the edge in blender. My goal was a mesh that I can then rig quickly (meaning the tweaking the heaps of JCMs). Rigging will happen today and probably over the next few days. I'm not sure about UVs. Right now, the edges are separate parts and x-y aligned, to make things like stitching easier. Beyond that, not sure. Comments and/or advice? Modeling for Poser is not something I've been doing for long. And modeling in Blender, even less. I'm not finding any great "repositories of advice" or mentoring for Poser content creation. The Vendor forums are "super secret" and I would imagine that people who do this commercially are busy enough. Old SM threads are the best I've found :(
