Description
The final in my zodiac series.
The 14th constellation through which the sun passes (albeit very briefly), Cetus takes its name from the monster in Greek mythology, slain by Perseus when he rescued Andromeda. Its an ancient sign and in its earlier Mesopotamian form is thought to have been a whale, possibly the reason for its association with a giant water beast in Classical times. The constellation is located in part of the sky often referred to as "the sea", because Pisces (the fishes), Piscis Austrinus (the southern fish), Capricornus (the sea-goat), Eridanus (the river) and Aquarius (the water carrier) are all located nearby.
Fittingly for a whale, its also one of the largest constellations in the sky.

I really love the harmony of the orcas and the main character. It's really a beautiful illustration of the zodiac and I could really see this as a card. Great work, Joe! :)
