“Daeron… perhaps you should give us some privacy,” Laeral declared, a little taken back by Raven’s lack of concern while she continued to undo her top before the both of them. “It’s all right,” Raven countered, casting a capricious glance in Daeron’s direction before turning her eyes back to Lady Arunsun with a sly smile. “He’s already seen my tattoo… and everything else.” “I see,” Laeral smirked as she shot a knowing look at him. Of course she knew he had a reputation for charming pretty young things into his bed, but she hadn’t given it much credence considering the lack of veracity regarding the other rumors about him, which marked him as an all-around scoundrel and cut-throat, but served him well as an agent of the Tel Teukiira. However, she now recognized the innuendo in his introduction of her as a lady of his recent “acquaintance”… Obviously, they were very well acquainted indeed. Slipping her vest from her shoulders, Raven crossed her arms over her bare chest instinctively, but made no real effort to cover her firm ripe breast which now faced Daeron as she turned her back toward Laeral. However, after a quick glance at her tempting charms, his eyes stayed focused on Lady Arunsun as she leaned in to examine the tattoo which marked the girl’s back just below her right collar. “It’s exquisite work,” Laeral remarked as she inspected the image with true appreciation for its artistic value. “So I’ve been told,” Raven replied with a touch of frustration. Nearly everyone she displayed it to had commented on its quality and beauty, but its placement made it impossible for her to see; even using two mirrors, one reflecting the image in the other, she only got a blurry, distorted image. “I’ve had every tattoo artist, herald and sage in Waterdeep, plus every Sembian I could find, look at it… The ones that don’t just leer over my shoulder, tell me how wonderful it is, but I have to take their word for it.” Laeral looked up to Raven’s face as she twisted her head back as far as she could, realizing that the girl’s casualness at baring herself wasn’t just the result of any sexual encounter they may have had, but because she had done so before many others in a desperate attempt to learn anything she could about her origins. There were things in her own past that Laeral would rather forget, dark and terrible things, many of which were born form the depths of her own being, but she couldn’t imagine what it would be like to lose herself completely; to have no idea who she was or where she had come from. So, she couldn’t help by feel compassion, and a little pity, for the girl, whose pain and desperation were clear on her face. Then Laeral refocused her attention on the tattoo as she gently glided her hands across Raven’s silky skin; not as an intimate gesture, but to invoke her innate ability to analyze dweomers, the reverberations in the Weave, the very substance of magic. As a Chosen of Mystra, the goddess of magic, she could literally feel the magical qualities in an object, but it was taxing and required her full concentration. “There’s something hidden under the image,” Laeral revealed with a distant tone, her eyes glazing over as she lost herself in the secrets hidden beneath the visible layer, “some sort of runes… glyphs, symbols or some form of ward maybe… it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before!”
