(The Inner Mind of Leonardo da Vinci...)
(I left it huge, so it may need scrolling)
---------
Ok.
I wanted to do 2 brand-new dedis this month: The first was for Barb (goldie), who I was thrilled to honor at last. And the second is for Giuliano---giulband---who I'm equally thrilled to honor.
This is based on one of Leonardo's most famous paintings, San Giovanni Battista---ie, Saint John the Baptist. (That's the painting inside my image.) (It's Public Domain, btw---from a Creative Commons image on Wikipedia. No copyright infringement.)
Giuliano posted a stunning interpretation of the painting, so I used the original to honor Leonardo and Giuliano...
(Btw, in college, we used to call Leonardo "Big Lenny". As you can see, we didn't have great senses of humor...)
Now...
I can't come close to the highly creative, penetrating and highly articulate visions Giuliano creates based on great art, literature, and numerous interpretations of life. He does amazingly beautiful work. Giuliano dives into the human condition with amazing motifs, textures, amazing stones, boulders, water, etc, settings and scenes which he unearths from the deep regions of our souls, and all kinds of insight, humor, wisdom, and so on. He captures inner truths (verità interiore), and I've admired his work for a long, long time...
(And, as a caveat: I'm not a traditional religious person, so if my treatment of a saint offends anyone, I mean no harm. I wanted to imagine what da Vinci's mind would look like if we shined a light on it. It's an homage, not a sacrilege.)
Giuliano: Thank you for your beautiful and provocative art! I wish you many more exhibitions, once your beloved Italia returns to normal. Thank you for all that you contribute here and everywhere else. L'ispirazione e la pace (inspiration and peace)! Stay well, stay healthy, and always walk with wonderful light! Mark

This is wonderful, Mark...another triptych-like image...I am certain that Giuliano will be thrilled with this dedication...it might have even caused the serious Leonardo to crack a smile :)

I think this is wonderful. The colors and layout are done beautifully and in an enlightening, uplifting and powerful way. I think it's a fantastic tribute and dedication to both artists.

Thanks Mark I am absolutely proud of the attention you have always paid to my images and for this dedication. I apologize if I look only now at this fascinating creation these days I am a bit absent because I put a creation on a contest with online voting which has a little bit engaged elsewhere. Your image as always is engaging, and you perceive the search to go beyond what is on the surface of the work. To discover its most intimate motifs, you elaborate it, look for other dimensions through a study of hues and saturations, compare different levels and always manage (as you do with my works) to find those notes that most escape. Thanks Mark for what you represent for all of us who are on this site. I hope the google translation is quite understandable and respectful of the concepts that I wanted to express.

OMG! What is this blasphemy?! What is this heresy?! As a matter of fact, More, More, More! Strange coming from a born again atheist like me. That aside, cool work on this transitional piece in dedication to your friends Guiliano and Leonard d. I wonder in awe at the various motifs you've presented here, Mark. And I hope Guiliano is practicing his hand washing, mask wearing and social distancing in hard hit Italy.

As always, Mark, you delve deeply into the details and find such wonders in artwork posted here. And you chose a brilliant and talented artist in Giuliano. His work is always not only gorgeous, but most intellectual as well. His art - and your art - is always a pleasure and a wonder to see. Most excellent, buddy!
