Description

Those of you who've been with me a while have seen this photo. I post it tonight because it's a fairy tale image for me: It's just a few blocks from home, but I saturated and softened it to make it like a 'fairy tale'. (That's a tunnel under a street, but it always looked like a passage to an enchanted land to me...) Our city---"sweet home chicago"---was given another full month of lockdown; and I imagine many of yours have too. The economy is really suffering, and people with the least money are getting it the worst. I just want to send hugs and wishes to all of you, and hopes for relief from your woes. All of you have written many wonderful words of encouragement here, and I could fill several uploads with all you've written. But, to speak for all of us, let me quote a comment from Rod (RodS). (I should've asked him for permission, but he wrote it in public, so I went ahead anyway: You can stage a protest out my door, Rod! I got masks for everyone---plus snacks!) Here's what he wrote: "Part of me wonders if this is the beginning of the end. But a larger part of me wonders if we have been given a gift in disguise. Can we use this 'down time' to search our inner selves, to reminisce, to connect with who and what we are deep inside. Perhaps it's a chance for us - as a species - to slow down, open our eyes and see the beauty, the wonder of what this thing called 'life' has waiting for us if we can see past the dollar signs. And come out of this - eventually - with a new appreciation of the things that are really important." (Me:) Yes! Exactly! So let Rod's beautiful true words, along with everyone else's, be the calling at the end of the tunnel. In fact, I wish you all light here and now. All my best to everyone, and may you have as much light and uplift as this universe has to offer. I hope all of you get through this healthy, whole, and shining like a cluster of stars... Peace, love and inspiration, m (Lincoln Park, Chicago) ---------------

I can see that tunnel leading to the land of the Fae, the way it is presented here. Since I've been alone for most of my life, long story there, this 'isolation' isn't that hard on me. I wish everyone a safe and fun weekend (you make your own fun here)

Your image is glorious, Mark...love that "fairy tale" look :)

I do sincerely hope humans do learn something from this episode; however, if history has any lessons in it, I rather doubt it--the profile of human nature is such a dichotomy: one half nurturing, constructive, generous; the other half destructive, selfish, exploitative, ignorant, wasteful. Tragically, too many humans turn to the worse of the two paths...

This is so gorgeous and magical, Mark - I love this photo! It does indeed look like a portal to a magical and virus free land of Fae Magick, and wonder. I'm packing my bags right now...

Well, I was going to send the Girls over to spank you, buuuut.....

They said: "You know he'll probably enjoy that, right? The spanking, we mean... And he still probably has that 20-foot toilet, too. And does he have toilet paper for it? Curious minds want to know. But at least he has face-masks, and snacks (Ar's eyes just lit up... Food is the way to her heart - I don't know how she keeps that figure of hers.. Anyway, tell that handsome fellow that we're on our way, but he still has to stick to the 'social distancing' thing...... (giggles)"

Oh, brother.... Just remember, buddy.... They like donuts. Lots of donuts... 🤣

And you can quote me anytime, bro! Man - you're making me feel famous...... 😆

This is a secret portal to somewhere wonderful, I just know it. A Hobbit hole, a Rabbit hole or just a way to get to a place where dreams come true. The colors are deep, rich and perfectly magical. This is such a neat photo, it lends itself to so many stories.

MA is struggling with this virus. No word on when the lock down will ease up, but I think Mom and I will be staying isolated long after other people start going out again. I hope people become kinder and more careful and caring, that would be a marvelous outcome to all this craziness.

Beautiful image, on which as always in your art you use manipulation to cross its surface to transform it into a kind of portal to access another dimension. A bit like Alice crosses the real to fall into the fantastic. You did well to report Rod's comment (RodS) which I totally appreciate and share. Yesterday I reviewed, on you tube, a lesson by a famous university professor of history who spoke of the crisis of 1300, incredibly educational. I had the impression of projecting the situation of our century in those times and therefore also having a perspective on how we will get out of it. I'm sorry both in Italian and therefore not disclosed in other languages (). Here in contagion it is decreasing and it seems that from May 4th we will have a little more chance to go out, meanwhile I wish you good health

Beautiful photo Mark. Two of my neighbors who I don't really know that well came over separately and asked if I was alright and if I needed anything at the store. I have gotten phone calls from friends I have not talked to for years. I'm a lucky person.

Great saturated photo with added words of hope above. Although I hate to throw cold water on any fingers-crossed, we'll-be-just-fine, covid-19 words stated above, but I'm a realist, and all I've read and heard about in re this deadly stuff is negative all the way. Charges and countercharges, revenge against those responsible, misinformation, accusations, money and employment problems, protesters ignoring social distancing, lack of medical supplies, discouraging statistics. a "second wave" on the horizon. Hopes and disappointments abound, failed drug tests, along with our daily 'sick maps,' USA leadership at the crossroads. Hate to get up in the morning? Yeah. Anxiety and uncertainty anyone? All I can say, and I've seen and experienced a lot at my veteran age of 92, and I didn't ever expect to say it: but now is a bad time to be alive. I assume they said or thought that back during the Black Plague, the Dark Ages and the Spanish Flu. Best of luck to all of us - and it's going to need a good share of luck - is to practice the official medical, mental and protective advice we hear and read about, especially when you're over 60.
