Description

(I posted the wrong image before: This is the right one!) ------------------ Ok, first of all, I'm doing huuuuge pieces these days, for which I apologize. But I can't help myself (this pandemic is making me do strange things)....So Tom (bugsnouveau) and anyone else whose eyeballs have concrete reinforcements: If you zoom, you'll see my attempts to honor Tom's extravagant, bejeweled art. A comparison: Tibetan Buddhists make these extravagant mandalas out of tiny colored sands: They pour sands on a huge floor, shape them meticulously, and create these glorious, exquisite mandalas, which--for them--represent the 'blossoming of the cosmos'. And when they're done? They whisk it away with a whisk brush, to say: "All things are transitory..." I'll add: "Except love and beauty"... To me, Tom's bug-journeys are cousins to those mandalas: He unleashes all kinds of wild, packed journeys in the process. And, by varying them over and over, they become a mantra: Ie, with each repetition, they reveal newer and newer depths. So keep up your journeys, Tom! They're eye-popping and beautiful; and just what we need during this pandemic. Stay well, everyone, and thanks so much for your visits!!! m (PS: I'm posting the original drawing for this, in the next upload: You don't have to comment, I just thought you might want to see where this came from ((it's old))) ------------------

Loverly work in this transition from Chicago at night to bugs/insects, Mark. I see the sand effects in the multicolored potpourri of varied mandalas. And, despite my best efforts during one hour on the computer, I've probable touched, scratched and rubbed my face an easy two dozen times. Fie on Covid-19. Even if you don't catch it, it will ruin your life.

Very pretty work! I see the colorful sand, but please don't sweep away your art. I like that the insects are all facing inward, like they're a team in a huddle planning to spread some beauty on the count of three. Nice job on this cool dedication, Mark, it's a beautiful collage.

A super fun, colorful and wonderful quad of flutterbys (er... butterflies) for a cool and talented artist! The "bigness" doesn't bother me a bit, Mark! I can get lost in these and forget about this #%^$%^ covid s##t for a few moments...

When I was a kid (a younger kid, I mean..) I used to collect insects - I've always been fascinated by them - and I still am. The kids in school used to call me "bugface" which made me sound like some kind of Mafia hitman or something.... 🤣

Anyway, a delightful bit of fun here, buddy! Keep 'em coming!

Starting from the "sandy" image as always in your works you have deepened an analysis on the development of the image by breaking it down into elements of color and reassembling them as giving a new dimension to the butterfly. I think it is also a precious dedication that the recipient will be proud of.
