Alerig Pelan grew up on a farm where he learned to handle animals, recognize and harvest useful plants as well as living off the land. His father and some of the elders of the village taught him some of the ancient magic of the land and he learned the secret of plants. He never had the opportunity to learn the skills that would have allowed him to call forth the power and bend it to his will though. Eager to leave home and see the world Alerig moved to the city where he became a watchman. After several years he was offered a promotion and a position in the city guard. There he has served with distinction at one point he even saved his commander’s life and was presented with a high-quality broadsword as a reward. Recently a mysterious cat burglar has been operating in his territory and he vowed to catch them and bring them to justice. After many months of trying he finally had his chance cornering the thief in a rain-soaked alley late at night. It was then he discovered that the mysterious thief was an attractive young woman. He was instantly smitten and didn’t want to lock her up, so he turned around and let her go. Now he still pursues her but not with the intention of arresting her.
