(Twice before now I tried to upload this pic from my phone without success. Maybe the Fates were trying to tell me something. I never listen.)
Took this yesterday on Sheridan Road when my train abruptly stopped and wouldn't go further south due to the protests/riots going on.
I'm sick and tired of all this madness. Yes, we MUST protest and see justice for those who suffer at the hands of abusive police officers. Yes, we MUST still remind the nation and the world that racism is STILL A PROBLEM, fifty-two years after Martin Luther King was gunned down at a Memphis motel.
However, there's a right way and and wrong way to protest. Looting, destroying homes and businesses, burning cars, and outright attacking police officers (most of whom I want to believe are still honorable, well-meaning people) is absolutely the WRONG way.
All this unnecessary ruckus puts ALL of us in a bad light, obscures the reason WHY we have to protest in the first place (George Floyd's death at the hands of abusive police officers over a counterfeit bill), and gives ammunition to those in power who want to see protesters put down (Trump, who's President In Name Only).
Protest we must. Call out abuse and discrimination we must. Call for seriously needed change in our legal system and to remove bias we must. But we must do it NON-VIOLENTLY. We must "aspire to the better angels of our nature," as it were.
And should I even mention that Covid-19 still exists? That virus DOES NOT CARE about race, gender, creed, sexual orientation, and so on. All Covid-19 sees are warm bodies to infest and spread to others. That's all it does. All of this chaos is giving the virus plenty of opportunities to spread and cause a second wave of infection and death.
We all need to calm down and see where our country is headed. We are far better than this. ALL of us are far better than this.

So well said I can not believe this day and age this is still going on heartbreaking, My God Donald Trump he is as thick as pig sh-t and needs to be stopped a very stupid and dangerous man who is pis-ed with power he can not handle, I heard last night on CNN he called out the troops because the night before he and his family had to go into a bunker? God help him.

I agree fully that protests should happen, but without violence while destroying other peoples livelihood,lives . the ones looting and burning are a minority of the protesters. then people got mad at a lady for posting videos of the ones doing the mayhem. oh! they should not be identified according to probably the ones that paid people to protest and do what ever they wanted.
unfortunately racism/discrimination will not stop while there are people on this planet. the bums should keep their pie holes shut instead of treating anyone like trash. how about "religions" that discriminate against those( all colors, races) that are not of their "faith" with bombing/mass murders/torture including babies.

I have never understood the logic of destroying innocent peoples' property to "protest" an injustice. I didn't understand it when Dr. King was killed, and I don't understand it now.
How does looting a store or burning a car of someone that had NOTHING to do with Floyd's unjust death make things right? It doesn't. The people that do this sort of thing are no better than the rogue officer that suffocated Floyd. Two wrongs do not equal a "right."

I totally agree with my good old friend Richard from the States, ....and as he already said: Racism/discrimination will not stop while there are people on this planet. the bums should keep their pie holes shut instead of treating anyone like trash. how about "religions" that discriminate against those (all colors, races) that are not of their "faith" with bombing/ mass murders/torture including babies (and animals)!!!! Covid-19, the great equalizer! An equal opportunity exploiter! Gotta love it! I don't!!! But then, I digress! I agree with all your rant! Sometimes it helps just to let off steam even if we can't do anything else about it. And again, I pray for all the victims affected by these senseless times!
