Description

Greetings all. A while back I posted 'Medieval Hovel By TruForm - May 29, 2020" which was an extraordinary free gift. A rich fully populated interior is provided. At the time I did a rather rough render just to show the interior. The lighting looked rather flat and perhaps more like 2020 Apartment Lighting. Certainly not the crude 1st Generation Track Lighting they had back in 1658. I said I would follow up with something better and here it is. Well at least I do hope it's better. You can be the judge. Thank you for stopping by and looking. Be Safe Be Well....Dag

Did you try rendering it in Superfly? You can do a lot of cool things with inverse linear and inverse square point lights to light a scene like this for Firefly, but I've found that TruForm's materials just look phenomenally better in Superfly. Which is a pity, since I prefer to do all my work in Firefly! Anyway, this version definitely has warmer lighting, as one would expect of candlelight! :-)

Actually this is a FireFly Base Coat with Reality 4 rendering layed on top. Then some Post work. I am not yet up to speed on Reality and was getting really washed out hot white skin tones. I suspect to many Mesh Lights. I'll take the base FireFly render and run it through SuperFly. Thanks for the tip! Technical talk is welcome here.

Thank You Bro...This one was an FNNN nightmare to do. All dumb mistakes by me. I learned a lot but it took me 3 days to get the kinks worked out and I still see stuff I should fix. But hey, it's never gonna be the Mona Lisa so I am just gonna chill on it.

The textures are so good in that set--the rocks and the wood look beautiful here! I admit I have come to love Superfly for how it handles hard textures, especially metal; it can do a lot (more than I know about for sure :D)

Actually those textures are from Reality 4.This one is a hybrid of Firefly and Reality 4. Getting the two blended was a hot mess solved by post in photoshop. Ahhh what we will do for a render. Makes me wish for a render farm and $100k in high end tools I probably couldn’t begin to master.

When I first got "The Hovel", the free Prop I was psyched by its rich interior. I posted a quick render just to see what it was like to work with, In that one the lighting was very flat and did nothing expressive hence this revision. Thanks for stopping by and viewing Your comments and visits are always welcome and appreciated. Thank...Dag

Thank you. I could say the same of your very creative style. This was fun because "The Hovel" is a freebe. On the outside it is just an average looking "Little House" prop. But once you take the camera inside there is this richly populated two story with all sorts of furniture and household goodies like you see in the render. You have encouraged me to go back into the interior and do some other renders. Thanks !!!!

I like the old 1600's track lighting, It had character. And dang, her hovel looks better (and roomier) than my current hovel!

One thing about that set, like a lot of older stuff I don't think it came with displacement or normal maps, so they do look rather flat.

You are spot on about the displacement / normal maps. That would be awesome but not very likely to happen. Thanks for stopping by. You are always welcome here.
