MoonFlower Dreams prose by Carol Cavalaris
In the glow of a big moon and enchanted dragonflies, a pixie baby sleeps peacefully nestled on a moonflower. There is such joy in watching a baby sleep so blissfully and remembering the days of our own innocence and dreams. Created in Photoshop, this artwork is from my Fantasy Collection.
Hope everyone is staying well and safe. I am still self-isolating, wearing a mask, and trying to keep myself positive in these challenging times. I've been working on some Fantasy Back To Nature art for one client, and some Black Lives Matter for another client. We all have to find ways to keep ourselves sane during this insanity we are all living in right now. My hope is the pain will create positive changes, within ourselves and our world.

one of your real fairy tale images, with a baby with elven ears, beautiful pink tinged wings and a diaper of greens and flowers (like the god, Pan!), and great hair too. I don't know a lot about pixies, but if this is how they look, I'll take a dozen! Your petals and leaves have their usual intense brushwork, but everything seems quieted down juuuust enough to cradle the child---if the child were sleeping in one of your intense flower images (or your alcohol ink images---oh my!), it might not sleep as well, lol, with all that cosmic activity swirling around it. Here, everything is made quiet and magical for the child...I love his plant-like hair too, with a little curl sticking up. You definitely captured the deep sleep of an infant (as you wrote about it too)...and you "halo" him with a big round moon and tons of stars, and light-filled dragonflies...real magic stuff! Also, the outer flowers are part-transparent, to make them more magical...and they set off that center-bloom, with its burst and delightful bed-of-lettuce cradle for the little Pan/pixie. And the deep greens speak of deep summer, a "midsummer night's dream," when everyone's sleep is imbued with magic, and the whole world is glittered with mystical beings and whispers (that's what the 'midsummer's night' is supposed to be all about..."the lunatic, the lover, and the poet," shakespeare wrote...a real answer to the heavy times we're in). Beautifully done as always, Carol, and nice to see you doing this while the world is so difficult. I hope you're well, and I'm glad your work is in demand...it sure deserves it...A total delight of an image!

Mark, thanks so much for your very lovely comment. It feels good to focus on innocence and blissfully sleeping in a fantasy world, when our real world is in such chaos. And so far from innocence it is scary. Creating art is a wonderful escape, for me and hopefully for others who view my creations. I do enjoy watching babies sleep and remember when my daughter was born, and having her placed on my chest. And bringing her home and how she would fall asleep on my chest, I would lay in bed and just absorb her peaceful innocence. It really was a feeling of such sweet bliss and I tried to recapture that in this artwork.
