Description
This is my final project of a 3DS Max 1 class in college. All box modelled, meshsmoothed with 2 iterations, textured with Photoshop. WAY too many hours in this one! Criticism would be welcomed!

Man this is excellent. Well, I love the Praying Mantis. The design is great! However, I would have liked to see the mantis cast a shadow. Good texturing, great job.

The many hours payed off I say. Realy excellent work. Maby the surrondings could be a little more blurry if you are looking for photo realism but otherwise it's a very good image. Impressive... Keep it up...

awesome, just awesome. The model is near perfect, and I really like the textures, they seem to fit every curve of your model perfectly, no signs of stretching or anything congrads!

that looks great dude, nice bump and textures but the feet seem to sink into the rock, could be just my failing eyes :P wat render method u using??
Nikko
Thank you everyone for the compliments! Phlegm Thrower, I just used the default Max scanline renderer. For this WIP version, I used three rings of 8 low-intensity lights, all a little different from one another, to sort-of-simulate GI, and a higher intensity sun much farther away. Took LOTS of experimentation to get it the way I wanted it, but I trashed the whole setup and changed all the lights. See my other Praying Mantis pic just posted in this gallery for the final, much better version than this one.
