Description

Fractal Design Painter 2.0, 1998. These images are small gifs made for web. I will have high-res versions when I rescue my old mac drives (if ever). Those will be available as they are retrieved. I meant to write more about these images when I posted them... I am updating them now one at a time, maybe only once a day... This image was inspired by a waking dream I had when I was eight (hence the name). At the time, I was kicked out of my house for some stupid thing I did and we lived in the country, so I slept in the car in the yard under the big oak. I woke up to the car shaking and looked up to see the door open at my feet and a glowing figure staring in. As soon as I was fully awake, the door slammed and the glowing figure disappeared, to be replaced by a glowing white dot buzzing violently inside the car. It shattered into millions of tiny sparks agianst the window above my head. I leaped out the car to find the oak tree looming above me, glowing as if there was alight within. I ran into the house (my dad was asleep) and snuck into bed. It was a warm summer night, and to defend my father, it wasn't an abuse situation - he was a single man with rambunctious twin boys and didn't know what to do with us, so he kicked me out rather than beat the crap out of me.
