Description
Hello,
My name is Minalva.
I'm here to teach you some Wood Elvish. Am imji un'un appa o Chuuelfa.
With me, is my little brother Kar-Yol.
We are Wood Elves from "o laïn re Yoluhujéd", "The Howling Wolf Clan".
With us is one of the adopted animals that we have in our "laïn", our clan. This "yol", this wolf, is called "Ahena", "Shadow".
You know now that "Yol" means "Wolf". My little brother being called "Kar-Yol" and "kar" meaning "little", his name is therefore "Little Wolf".
"Kar" means "little" and "short" but only in a matter of size or quantity. The word for a short period of time is "urm". As an example, the word "Urmimïn", contraction of Urm/Short Time and Mimïn/Life is signifying "Short Lives". Word that is applied to all none elven races. It is sometime, but not always, used pejoratively.
To stay on the subject of races, Dwarves are called "Karaumrala" that you can translate by "Little Strong Beings". Kar/Little, Aum/Being, Rala/Strong. Speaking of dwarf, I like to call Romatzo my Karalié, which mean my "Little Love". Not because my love for him is little, but because he is dwarf and he is short. Ha ha ha.
One of the names for the Humans is "Karmimi", "Short Ears". Mimi being, of course, "Ear".
As for our cousin the High Elves, we use the simple term "Elfa", or if we want to be more specific we are saying "Rielfa", "Tall Elves". "Ri" means tall or high, but humans have misinterpreted the term and have imagined that it was implying a sort of superiority of your cousins on us. Superiority notion that does not exist between us. Our cultures and ways of living might be different, but we are all Elfa. Sons and daughters of Yamina and Bann, Mother Moon and Father Sun.
The same misinterpretation have been done with one of our names, "Juuelfa", Dark Elves. Humans interpreted it like if it was something bad, like if we were creatures from the night doing horrible things, when it's actually referring only to our skin tone. Humans are weird...
Anyway, our other name is "Chuuelfa", Wood Elf.
Now, about "Uhujéd".
"Uhujé" means "to Howl", but with the suffix "D" it change to "Howling". A "D" at the end of a verb kind of acts like the gerund.
Well, it will be all for today. Hope you have enjoyed this little course. Say goodbye, Kar-Yol.
Goodbye!

Finally, I have done this second "Learning Wood Elvish with Minalva". I have started this scene so long ago that it's "first season" Minalva giving the course.
In fact, what was mostly blocking me was the wolf. I own Dog8, but here it's the old Millenium Dog model. The original wolf morph does not look that good, so I have modified it. I'm not sure it really looks like a wolf, but it's better than the original, imo. The lack of fur was a problem too, but thanks to the Strand Base Hair, it now has one. :) Again it's not perfect, but I think it's really decent and I have learned a lot of things while applying it.
Anyway, I hope I won't take another year to do the next "Learning Wood Elvish with Minalva". :D
About the Humans thoughts about Dark Elves, don't think they are just racist assholes.
If most of the things told about Wood/Dark Elves are false, the fact that they are completely mercyless against their enemies and can kill even women and children with no second thoughts, is a reality. And they can be extremely stealthy. So if they make a raid in your town at night, you'll remark their presence only when they'll start cutting your throat, like if they were murderous ghosts.
That said, it's been a very long time that Humans and Wood Elves stopped been enemies, except for rare skirmishes, so the fears and prejudices that Humans have against them are vestiges of a bygone past.
