Description

During the present situation around the country, all of us in our little group have gotten to know each other just a bit better. Case in point. Shreri Lyn, guitar player for the band, and I have found that we have an affinity for old school stereo equipment. I grew up in the late sixties and early seventies on brushed chrome face plates and pure analog technology with all it's knurled nobs and toggle switches. Sheri Lyn grew up listening to old school rock and roll on this type equipment with her grandfather - I'm suddenly feeling really old (LOL). We both also learned to play along with vinyl records trying to figure out chord changes and riffs and specific guitar sounds to our favorite artists. Although the girls have a full state of the art studio where they do most of their practicing, Sheri Lyn and I decided to set up this her room with this musical décor. I should say at this point that I am pretty much of an incompetent bass player at best, but Sheri Lyn loves to jam around with me because of our shared interest and her love of teaching (I'm a very eager student!!!!) As for the technical aspects of this image. It appears to be a pretty basic setup and it was. The problem I found was the lighting (duh!) With all the chrome and shiny surfaces I kept getting hot spots and bad shadows. Moving the lights, moving the equipment, changing light intensity were all just a part of the process. This render happened to have the least number of issues and probably the best overall look. Don't forget to wear your face masks and stay safe everyone. Enjoy.

I have to admit, I am very much old school, too. I still have 3 reel-to-reel recorders stashed away along with several boxes of tapes. Nothing like the warm sound of tube amps and analog tape recordings. Solid state and digital make it a lot easier. But, still like the old ways. Great scene, b-t-w !!!!!!

Ah, the memories (and the scenery...)! I had a couple auto-reversing Teac reel-to-reel machines back in the day... Wore them both out - they were awesome.

And your lovely lady and image is awesome as well!

What is not to love about vintage merlin amplifiers. They were the first to go all the way up to 11. And reel to reel tape decks are just awesome. Some of my first recordings were done on equipment just like this. Brings back the memories for sure. Wonderful work and I look forward to your next.

Now that's my sort of room... I still have my old Teac 4 track tape machine; this makes me want to dig it out! Despite many years of tinkering, I still struggle a bit with DAWs and all the software...

Excellent scene
