Description

Liberty II Here's my final version of the painting. Symbolism contained in this painting (left to right from top to bottom) Flag - the symbol of the Great Republic of the United States of America - 50 stars representing the 50 states of the union, 13 stripes representing the original 13 colonies, red for the blood of patriots spent to defend our liberty with valor and strength, white for purity. blue for the heavens that oversaw the formation of the U.S. Constitution, the stars and stripes together representing the sky and rays of the sun shining down from heaven. Liberty - She stands tall atop a precipice. She represents the great government formed under the Constitution. She stands yielding her sword. Blindfold around her neck - She isn't wearing her blindfold because she's in a defensive stand and needs to watch valiantly to protect the law. Once the law has been enforced, she will don the blindfold so she can execute judgement without prejudice. Sword - The Sword of Justice, two edged to cut asunder those who stand in the way of truth and virtue - the two principles of which just laws are based. Balance - Used to weight punishment against mercy, the two features of justice. Without mercy or punishment, there can be no justice. Precipice - a firm foundation built upon a stone that cannot be washed away by the storms of injustice. Stone Tablets - Representing the Law given to Moses from God, written by the finger of God, upon which most laws are based. There is no doubt we live in troubled times. This nation will endure because it was built upon the principles that rights are given from God and inalienable. This painting is to serve as a reminder that sound principles are worth defending.

Most certainly appropriate. Nations United succeed whereas Nations Divided will inevitably fall into ruin. I think this nation ( i.e. its people ) have a choice to make. Are you your brothers keeper or will we go the route of the 1860's , brother against brother? I personally will not get played by Politicians playing are you Red Team or are you Blue Team?

Agreed. For me, it's team Constitution. Either you support it, or you're against it.
