Description
Alaris laughed to himself.
All those great heroes - all winning fame in the same way.
All you need is a maiden in distress, a monster or two and a bit of luck or a wizard in the background - what legend was there that didn’t have its complement of maiden, monster and hero? And what hero ever failed?
Maybe that should be the definition of the word hero - that you were a hero as long as you didn’t fail?
And that makes me a hero.

Hero , a word with so many facets. Hero's are larger than life and just as down to earth as a school teacher , teaching in a public school. They are as diverse as legendary warriors of all stripes and firefighters and doctors. Hmmm i guess what makes a hero a hero is saying to self..."go until. Never quit."

Good question, and one we could debate for hours.
I like your hero's description of a hero.
Bad luck if you're the monster.
What constitutes a monster, though?

And around the next bend, a large Lovecraft kind of dog creature attacks out of nowhere. It bites off the hero's head in one easy snap and runs off into the night. Not every hero defeats the monster... ;)

OK, a follow-up, of sorts, is in the pipeline ...

I have a feeling Alaris maybe have a comeuppance waiting for him around the next corner! Super cool outfit, and suitably pensive expression for a man who sees himself as the hero of his own story :-)
