I am the author Lyle Aryn. Writing is my first love, my one true passion. Every since I was able to string a sentence together, it's all I've wanted to do. Websites where you can find my work and more are below.
I started using Daz Studio October 23rd of 2018, just as something to dink around with. I'd been signed up with the sight for a while, and would occasionally remember to check for freebies. I was surprised at what I had when I finally loaded up the program. I just started playing around with it, figuring it out. I'd say about 92% of what I've learned in the program I've learned just by playing around with it.
In December I went from being a dutiful son looking after his mom, to the full-time, no nights or weekends off, caretaker of my Mom. As someone who struggles with depression, anxiety and a mood disorder or two, this change has had a drastic impact on my own personal care and well-being. I turned to my blossoming love of doing digital art as a way to cope with the mountains of stress on my shoulders. I do miniature painting, too. But when you haven't slept in 4 days, handling a brush can be very messy. Not being able to paint to my own personal satisfaction was making this avenue of relaxation increasingly frustrating.
Daz Studio has an undo button that you just don't get with painting miniatures.
As my skill with the program grows, so does my confidence. I did the cover to my fifth novel, "Because the Night" using Daz Studio, as well as new covers for two previous releases. (Though they haven't been updated just yet.)
I'm looking to always improve my artistic work, no matter what the medium, and Daz Studio is no different.

A really great looking scene.👍🙋♂️
LyleAryn
Thanks. It was fun to put together, too. Spent the time inside the head of one of my favorite imaginary people as she took over to create an imaginary person of her own.
A_Sunbeam
Cute character and great scene
LyleAryn

Nicely done.
LyleAryn
Thank you.

Nice job, cute character.

Thank you. I need to look into ways of making eyes better in 3DL, but these just aren't making me very happy yet. But then, I've got that last render with the eyes that make me melt, so maybe I'm just sorta ruint for sub-standard eyes.
OkrimSlava
Excellent Scene.

Thank you very much, my dude!

Fantastic work! Lovely render! Dragon and girl have a very good pose. I like Mika very much. As for the tutorials, I watch all of them for free on the Daz studio website. These are the videos that show how to use the product. I don't use 3delight so I can't give you any good advice about post work, but Vaclav Dadera is a master when it comes to 3delight. It's best to ask him! Sometimes on Deviant Art, an artist shares their products and experiences.
LyleAryn
Honestly, I haven't looked at very many tutorials since I started. Here and there I'll look up a solutions for a specific problem. Usually get skunked, lol. Now I'm at the point where I need to start going through tutorials because I feel there is more to learn, but I've hit a level of skill that means I don't experiment as much.
I'll check Vaclav Dadera, for sure. I'm not switching to 3DL, but knowing how to best utilize it can't be a bad thing.
Thanks for the feedback! Have a great day.

beautiful little witch and scene
LyleAryn
Thanks! Have a lovely day.
eekdog
she has a cool little friend. she looks very magical in power.
LyleAryn
Yes indeed. Fire-themed, but I decided not to get i to the headache of 3DL flames. All my flame props are iray.
Actually, now that I think about it... I might have something. Hmm. Time to do another render!
adrie
Very beautiful render, excellent work on every thing my dear friend.
LyleAryn
Thank you. I thin I'm getting the hang of 3DL. Even if I want to redo it in iray...
You have a lovely day.

Sounds like a highly involved project but the results are well worth it! Fantastic image here! Love the dragon too! Very nice!
LyleAryn
Oh yes, highly involved. layers like an onion, too. But I enjoy the exercise. Originally I wanted to do a webcomic, but.... I'm a novelist. That's my strong suit. Then I decided to do an illustrated novel instead.
Of course, the characters are so very 3D in my head. Each with their own personality, dreams, goals, hopes. And once I start down the road of "What kind of MMO character would this person play?" it gets pretty busy in my noggin.
I'm actually impressed that the outfit doesn't look all that bad in 3DL. Not nearly as good as how it rendered out in iray, but... not bad at all. Even with my tampering.
RodS
Well, she certainly is looking cute and sweet - and yet powerful in her own way. And not knowing in what way makes her even more attractive. And I do love her clothing - sweet work on this, good sir!
LyleAryn
Thank you very much, Rod. Lenny started as a way to express some things I was feeling, so it's pretty amazing to see how she's grown into a real human being.
Nightwind
This is such a sweet image! The character is such a cutie. Then there is the little dragon, the red outfit and the headdress gives it an oriental flair I think. Yeah, I'm really liking this one.
LyleAryn
Thank you. It feels like Lenny, so I'm happy with it. Certaibly an interesting excercise.
Though I do need to sit down and do a little but of world-building, just to keep things consistent in the future.
I'm half-tempted to do a LitRPG-story with the group. Like, what if all of them were zapped into the game? Would be an interesting story. Maybe I'll see about doing something for Halloween.

As I read through the comments I came across one ☝️ n which you talked about how characters get in your head. I am that way to. I think at times our extensions come to life in the renders we do. I rarely do one where there is no back story. The ones with no story tend to live out their existence in a dark hard drive.
LyleAryn
Sometimes I'll create one where I'll be more random, not even sure what I'm channeling. That's what my gallery folder "visual story prompts" is for. I think just as we, in school, were given visual story prompts, then as adults we should still be able to enjoy that. So I do try, sometimes, to follow random ideas without letting a character take root.
I've never actually succeeded, of course. My very silly "Cyber Tiger" already has a sassy voice in my head and refers to herself as "Mama."
