Description

After taking the feedback from the last one, I present to you MKII. As much as Gabriel was a fun guy, I didn't think he was _quite_ right. So we loaded up Markos for G8M. I believe he came in the Centaur 8 pack. Regardless, I think he's a better fit for the character. He seems more laid back and friendly, which is what I want from Trace. And as mentioned in a few replies, if/when I render him alongside his wife, Gabriel would have stuck out horribly. Can't hide him in shadows all the time! (I'll be using Nuka for the wife. Lola has the hots for her. She can't help it. But the two kid around, and Trace doesn't get jealous. Because his wife don't swing that way and Lola knows it.) Anyway. I added a bit of clutter. Decided not to go overboard. Not because of render time, but because if they are doing their jobs properly, the area wouldn't be cluttered up. So, just a coffee mug. I thought to giving it a plain pattern, but the idea of using a Christmas mug in June kinda just fit the whole concept. It's exactly the sort of cup you would use at work. Obviously, I changed the lighting. This is purely lit by the scene, whereas the last one was scene + HDRI. I added a plane above their heads and lit it up, which I think turned out really well. It feels more "real" this way. As always, I'm hungry for your feedback. Thank you my friends. ~~LA

Lol. Thanks. He's the manager. I spent a lot of time looking for name badges, but it looks like something I'm going to have to make and/or coerce my blender buddy into making. Thanks for your feedback!

Yes - this bloke is a much better choice - and the lighting improves the scene immensely.

My wife uses a Christmus mug all year round and I have one, some 30 years old, which says "leave me alone, go bother your own secretary" ...

Lol! My dad favored a cup with a rainbow on it.

Imagine: A tough mustached goateed manly man, 40 years a welder, drinking his coffee from a rainbow mug.

When you got a favorite, you got a favorite!

He looks more on par with Lola so makes for a better balanced scene. :)

Thank you. I agree. That hair! At first glance it looks like it doesn't have a lot of texture to it, but its just so blonde! Lol.

Better in all respects, to be honest, and that's a fine head o' hair he's got going on there! Homer Simpson- Max Power fine!

Lighting works really well. I've been working mostly with scene lighting for some time, more challenging to set up but the results are better I think.

A fine piece of work my friend!

Indeed! I'm pretty sure the rest of the store would be a little dark, but... It looks good here. I try to be a mininalist. In the past I'd have these complicsted rigs with 10-15 light sources... What a mess!

Thanks. It's been an interesting project, and very rewarding. I'm still unsure of the viability of an illustrated novel, but I'm having fun doing the illustrations.

Ohhh yeah .... much better indeed. Now this couple match well in geometry and texture. 100% improvement. Well done. Nevertheless, you are to be commended for playing out on the edges. Well done.

The new character is very handsome. It's very good that you have changed old one, but she won't even look at him. Fully focused on her work. Very nice lighting!

LyleAryn

11:13AM | Tue, 20 October 2020

Yep! Plus she's thinking about his wife, lol. (She has the hots for her.)

A great image for an ordinary moment and place. The cup is the perfect casual touch (and oddball color 😀).

Yeah, I think this one nails it, my friend! He looks a lot more natural, and a great addition to the scene. It may just be my monitor, but the top light seems a teeny bit strong. Maybe dial it back a little bit? Just a thought..

My favorite mug is the one with -you guessed it - the TNA Girls on it! LOL

LyleAryn

10:01PM | Wed, 21 October 2020

I was thinking about how they like to put these too-bright florescent in convenience stores. It also makes his hair seem to glow, which I felt reinforced his "good guy" vibes. idunno.

My favorite mug has a grumpy face on it.

Thanks for the feedback!
