Description

So... I'm terrible at making scary things. I intended to make scary thing. But... anyway. This is Velvet. She's an enchanted mannequin. Her seamstress wizard was killed by a wandering pack of murder-hobos... er, "adventurers" while she was out collected iris blossoms to make dye with. That was twenty years ago, and all this time Velvet has been alone. And lonely. She doesn't really have any concept of of how time works but eventually she realizes that her mistress has been gone an awfully long time. It doesn't help that the enchanted candles never burn down. Or that there's enchantments to prevent dust from gathering. Now she doesn't know what to do, because she could really use someone to talk to her. The rat in the pantry stopped moving AGES ago, and there just isn't anybody left. Poor thing. Anybody want to be her friend? This is Girl 6. I've used "Elegant Fabric Shaders" on her skin, and "Vintage Enamel Shaders from Khory_D" for her eyes and teeth. I removed her eyelashes, because... well, they don't make sense, do they? The pure black velvet shader I first tried was like a black hole that didn't show detail no matter how I lit it up, so I switched to grey and darkened it until I hit that sweet spot. Lips are red velvet, obviously. Eyes are Black from Vintage Enamel, with the teeth done in cream. Both high gloss. Hair is "Pure Hair: Crazy." I figured an older hair set would give me more of a yarn look, and I remember Pure Hair Crazy having these nice flat ribbons. It took a bit to figure out which shader to use. I tried a blanket shader, but it didn't really work, and then a lace shader which was better, but still not quite right. Then i remember I had some knit patterns in "Everyday Fabric Shaders" and that did the trick! I like it, anyway. The set is "Gothic Bedroom." It came with an HDRI, and all the candlelight. From there, I've got a three-point lighting setup with spotlights to dial her in. When i switched to the grey, I found I had the lights set WAY too bright. Seriously... that black velvet shader is NOT easy to light. I think this looks better anyhow. Lemme know what you think!

Thank you. I might just have to introduce her to my players. She ought to fit into the setting well enough.

Thanka. I figure the seamistress was working on a dress for one of the King's many wives when she disappeared.
