Description

There was a strange sound. At first I though it might have been Mr. Rat. He doesn't play anymore, he just sleeps all day. But maybe he's woken up and would like to play. I check his little cupboard. But now, he is still sleeping. Silly Mr. Rat. When Mistress comes home she'll give him a candied chestnut and then he'll play. There's that sound again. Not like Mr. Rat at all - who's still sleeping. It seems to be coming from behind the curtains. I've kept them closed for mistress has asked me to while she is away. But perhaps... if there is a noise, i should go and see what it is. Besides, it could be someone who would like to talk. It has been so very long since anyone has spoken to me. Carefully, I open the curtain where the sound is. There's something hanging by a thread, swinging back and forth. And every time it touches the glass, it's legs move. It's got an awful lot of legs. I should think it would be good at knitting. I peer closer, and see it has a lot of eyes, too. How very odd! But then Mistress told me that there were very many odd creatures in this world. I struggle a moment to pull the window up, but then it moves and the strange creature swings inside and lands on the sill. How delightful! I think it is bowing! "How do you do, my dear!" He says. I should expect his voice to be tiny, or that he should squeak like Mr. Rat. Only this new friend has a deep voice and seems very warm. "How do I do what?" I reply. I'm surprised by my own voice. It had been so long since there was anyone to talk to, I thought I must have forgotten how to talk. Yet, here was a new friend and I could speak after all. Two of the creatures legs cover it's strange mouth. It's as if it had a tiny pair of scissors moving with it's cheeks. I suppose that would be very useful for knitting indeed. Mistress liked to bite the thread when she was done. The creature was laughing. I liked this very much. It was a warm laugh, and I'd forgotten how very nice laughter was. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Something I'm sorta working on, in regards to an opening. Pretty rough, but I think it will work just fine. Certainly and odd thing for me. I typically write romance and romantic fantasy, so this is already turning into something altogether different. Since you last saw her, she's sewn herself "Garb more suitable for adventuring" (Gypsy Outfit for G2F by DAZ 3D, Sarsa, Bobbie25) and has acquiring an item with which to defend herself with. (Sewing Notions by Divabug Designs) and acquirred a new friend, "Mr. Spider." (Giant Monster Spider by Groovy Patrol) Set is "The Beautiful Lake" by JeffersonAF Light is provided by the set as well, though I rotated it to illuminate her more fully to get as much detail out as possible. I've fallen in love with this character. She's just so sweet and just slightly disturbing. I think this could be a fun book! And here I was thinking I was going into NaNoWriMo with NO CLUE as to what I was going to write! Speaking of, I'm currently on-track to have my last book released this weekend. For now, I think I'm going to eschew the illustrations, and update the ebook at a later date. It's complicated, and I want to do it right. But I also got to get the book off my plate for now. I'll be calling it "Lenny and Lola" and I think that will be the series title going forward. Keep it simple.

I like your writing a lot. A very intriguing render also. You are really very multi-talented. Way to go my friend.

Thank you. I'm a writer before anything else. Its strange how book ideas come. I'm not ready to write the nexr volume in my fantasy epic, and I just finished the first in the Lenny and Lola series, so I had no real idea what I would be doing for National Novel Writing Month. There's a few things rattling around my brain, but nothing solid. Then Monday morning I went for my walk and the idea of a velvet mannequin that was alive came to mind. And the more I work with her the more I see the shape of the story.

It's outside my norm, but I think I'm going to keep writing it. Already got a couple pages, so I'm good to get started on Sunday!

I was totally absorbed by your story - it's so cool. The render is fun too - I like her new pet, from a distance ;-)

Oh, Mr. Spider is very friendly. With the Seamistress' last breath, she enchanted a regular little spider to look after Velvet, only he was trapped in a jar by the murderous adventurers and it took him quite some time to make it to the cabin.

LyleAryn

Yes. That's Mr. Spider. I see him as a bit like Jiminy Cricket. Except he'd probably eat Jiminy Cricket.

Thanks for the feedback!

Lovely work. She won't have any trouble threading that one!

LyleAryn

6:52PM | Wed, 28 October 2020

Lol, no! I'm thinking its an enchanted needle, called an "Ever-threaded" needle. It changes size, and once you put a bit of thread in it it never runs out.

Thank you! And Mr. Spider won't bite. Ubless you threaten Velvet, of course. In which case, you might find that being an enchanted spider has increased his potency a bit...
