Description

If you have been following me for a while, you know that I took the old Hyperion Bar and converted everything into iRay for a few scenes. ZOOM IN!!! I revisited the bar since I installed Octane this morning. I did NOT use my iRay conversion with all the LEDs, Displays, Lights, etc. - just the default to see what it would do. One thing I AM REALY excited about is the ability for Octane to render in 3D!!! That is something I've been trying to do using online resources for so long with failures all over. Octane renders are super fast compared to iRay .. I know iRay is using both my GPUs, but I can't confirm Octane is. eg. Default iRay render of the above (without lights - other than the headlamp for Camera0 or else the scene was black due to no lights) was 3 mins 57 sec. The same scene was rendered in Octane in less then 15 seconds. and of course Reality / LuxRender takes minutes to hours to get things to look properly (you can stop at any time when you feel as the image is good enough).

Appears I located the GPU settings and from what I can find from past postings, the "free" version of Octane for DAZ3D only allows 1 GPU (it does allow the 2nd GPU to be used for tonemapping - you are unable to select any other checkboxes) but Octane is still super fast over iRay.

I'd attach a screencapture, but I keep forgetting the site disabled attachments for some reason - or something changed and I cannot locate the icon to add.
