Description

Zavora's multistage rocket is successfully launched. The time and place were computed by the human Calculor at Libris in Rochester and a secret new Calculor deep underground in Woomera. The fuel mix is imperfect but the mechanical clockwork controllers will detect and compensate for any course discrepancies. The technology available to Zavora may be primitive, but the ancient books at Libris provide all the necessary knowledge. Calculations of celestial mechanics may be slow but they are more than accurate enough to chart the rocket's required course. In the image the rocket is steady as it lifts off next to the makeshift wooden gantry. Just to the left of the rocket the arch of Mirrorsun blocks out some of the stars and the dull reflection of the sun provides as much light as the moon. In the distance at left, the closest beamflash tower signals the news of the launch. The coded message, concentrated by Fresnel lenses will be flashed from tower to tower in the network. The pre-planned message will take only minutes to reach Zavora at the Libris telescope in Rochester. The wooden launch gantry was constructed of parts from Medieval Construction Props from DAZ. The tank on the right and the beamflash tower are from Walden Mill, also from DAZ. The building behind the gantry is Dryjack's Old Shack freebie. The track and train cars are from the Wind Train with parts of the GWR Cordon Gas Tank Wagon atop the car chasses. The buffer at the end of the track is Dryjack's. The rocket is built from modified parts of the X-20 Titan II Booster freebie. The exhaust flame is from Jepe's FlameZ (DAZ). The environment is the Australian Outback from DAZ, with a modified skydome texture using Flinks Sky Stars. The scene, inspired by the Greatwinter trilogy, was composed and rendered in Poser 11 Pro and post-processed in Corel Photo Paint for some lighting effects.

Excellent image!!! Sadly a wooden gantry would be instantly incinerated. Doesn't really matter.

I thought of adding flames to the gantry, but thought that would make it look more like a launch failure.
