Description

I am still learning the newest build of poser (12) and I took one of Richardphotos' images and loaded it in as an IBL light, and turned off the other lights except for one, and made that one an infinite light. I like how it looks--the default lights (I think) are in there just to have a lot for you to choose from, because if you leave them "as is" you get a lot of extra strange shadows. Having the light image and the background image the same, seems to work well. This was the first time I tried using a shadow catcher on the ground--and it worked :D I put in a Hi res cloth plane from Props/Primitives and in the* material room*, there is a check box on the main panel that says "Shadow catcher only". You check that and leave the rest alone. Before i was trying to find this option in the Parameters and the Render pane... and that is not where it is. The tin can is in Freestuff and it is by DryJack and you should go get all his stuff :D Anyway, Merry Christmas to all you who celebrate! <3

This worked out really well. The lighting is very natural and the shadow catcher, from what you describe, is a far more simple task than in Poser 11. Well maybe it was just me but I messed with shadow catching for the better part of 3 days before I saw how to do it in Poser 11. Is Richard's background done as an HDRI or its own layer?

I already sent you Christmas wishes but we can't say it to often...Have a Wonderful Christmas and a Better New Year too.

It's just a background--if you can do a hdri layer in Poser I haven't figured it out completely--I guess you would delete the Ground and use a background sphere like the TerraDome , with Light emitter checked. I haven't tried that yet, though! I'd be tempted to try it but then also load in the same image a panel prop to get more control over how the background lined up with the figure. And Poser really likes those old Infinte lights--they render fast and are easy to position. I hope you had a wonderful day! Spouse cooked everything --I am so spoiled :D

wonderful work. she is gorgeous. remembering back when I knew nothing about 3D and started with Poser 4 pro, I was able to learn it far quicker( very poor student however) than Poser 12. I am slowly picking up some of it. thanks so much for your mention

I would love to be out there cruising around AZ,Utah,CO,Cal. However I am afraid of getting caught in a blizzard

I know, snow is coming! But Spring is too! Your photos are so wonderful, they are a delight to work with! And I remember fondly the funny characters that came with Poser4--they seem kind of low poly now but boy were they fun!

I know such landscape may seem barren and forbidding to many but I love the scenery and next to being in the mountains love the desert. Well, provided I have water and shade and am not just stuck in the middle of nowhere. :)

I still haven't taken the plunge with Poser 12 yet, but this makes me think I should.
