Description

I thought I would upload my first real attempt at a model using Cinema 4D. Having seen the results from you all here in the galleries, I was inspired to give C4D a try. After mucking about for a couple of days and generally making a mess I decided I needed to learn how to use the tools. Having used Bryce since version 1 I have been used to modelling using primitives only, and have found that trying to model polygon meshes in C4D is currently beyond me, so I set out to learn about the primitives and NURBS objects. This vehicle started life as an exercise to produce an alloy wheel rim using the Lathe NURBS object. It then aquired a tyre, a hub, and spokes. Next came a fender and some shock absorbers. The one wheel then became 2, then 4, then a truck bed, and so on. I have spent about 60 hours building the model and have learned a lot about C4D along the way ( the model contains primitives, splines, NURBS, booleans, arrays, deformers and 1 six face polygon mesh ). The vehicle shape has sort of evolved rather than being based on any specific idea in my minds eye, but I am happy with the way it has turned out. It is going to end up as a tractor unit for some kind of ore carrying land train ( The thing on the back that looks like a jet engine is actally a connector for the wagons when I get round to building them ) I am now going to go away and learn about materials in C4D, and will post the model again in its finished form once I am happy with the result. Thanks for listening to my ramblings. Later... Simon

Hey, very cool! I like the design, and the name fits it aptly.
